Don't worry about Duchene he will prove his worth and some.

did you see Widemans injury last night? that looked painful

yes, it did look painful... almost as painful as watching him play forward... perhaps they should consider dressing 8 D and 10 F, and playing 2 of those D at F... I simply don't understand the roster management...

That game was pitiful, they played for maybe 15 minutes and coasted the rest of the way. Karlsson in particular sucked, just flat out sucked and was not trying at all last night. Wasn't skating, wasn't pushing play, was completely out of (frank)s to give and the rest of the team followed his lead. "Hey, I have the puck with three minutes to go, what should I do? I know! I'll skate it back behind our net from centre and wait there an extra 20 seconds to try a stretch pass that'll be picked off. Oh, they dump it back, OK, I'll do the same thing again, and again, and again. I'm a superstar!"

Guy needs an ego check now to get his ass in gear. You're the freaking captain, play and act like it!

Phaneuf was equally bad, refused to go into the corners to track down loose pucks. Our two best d-men looked like they had anchors on their feet all game. You could tell by their reactions they kept thinking "meh, someone else can get it" when there were loose pucks near them.

This was a statement game and the Sens showed they are not up to the challenge of overcoming their own adversity and laziness and are happy to be outworked by other teams cause they think they can pull magic out of their butts at will. Aside from the first 10 minutes where you could tell Duchene and a few others were really trying, Pittsburgh outworked us, out played us and just wanted it more.

This is the team that eliminated us last year, if they can't show up and give their all for this game then I have little faith they can do any better the rest of the way. It was like the Vegas game all over again, they didn't want to put the real work in and it showed.

For shame!

Boucher said Wideman has been playing great on the wing. He set up our only goal last night.

The one thing I don't think you can fault the Sens for, generally speaking, is work ethic.

Which matters more, what he looks like or what the numbers are.

I am not trying to be a Richard about it. I save my chirping for you know who. I really wonder though if Duchene is a better fit for Ottawa than Turris.

Of course, if Duchene starts to light it up, or turns Ryan into an even marginal NHL'er then we will have our answer

i think the thing with the duchene over turris argument is this:

worst case (career ending injury aside) duchene doesn't live up to his potential in ottawa and continues to play like the last 2 years in Colorado, and his numbers are the same as turris.........that's the worse case, and it's a lateral move and ottawa gave up a few decent assets for an extra year of contract certainty.

best case, duchene plays to his potential and develops chemistry with ryan that turris never had. if that's the case, then we get a 70-75pt center who can maybe turn ryan back into a 25 goal guy. if that's teh case then the deal is HUGE steal for ottawa

assuming it's somewhere in the middle, ottawa gets a centre who's a moderate upgrade in just about every facet of the game, and finally a linemate who has some chemistry with ryan......still worth the price they paid
