This seems like it would be a logical entry point for Morin to replace Gudas, but his injury might not make that possible.
I agree with the idea of replacing Weiss and potentially Filpulla or Raffl. The current defensive core is proof enough that the youth can inject speed and skill to this team. There's nothing wrong with giving Lindblom and Vecchione that opportunity. They may struggle, but they could also thrive. It's worth the risk and there really isn't that much risk at this point, based on the play of the current forwards. - ManCity

Absolutely. Wow.... The Flyers defense core has combined for 6 goals this season. I'm thinking that has to be near the bottom of the league.
Edit: Maybe not, the Sabres have zero goals from their defense. How the (frank) is that possible? - PLindbergh31

Carchidi suggests Morin and Martel could be recalled. It's no certainty amac comes back Tuesday. But I don't trust his opinion on anything |

they lose to the WC teams most of the time, so i'm not sure how much fun that is.
LA, Anaheim, Preds x2, Wild x2, Jets, Chicago, Arizona, Colorado...not good. |

The vision of Hextall's plan may be a good one, but it better start producing some results soon. GM's don't get 7-8 years of nothing but first round playoff eliminations, and missing the playoffs. I know everyone said this is a playoff bubble team.. there is a such thing as exceeding expectations in sports. It happens all the time. - PLindbergh31
How long did the rebuild take in LA? I honestly don't know. I would have to assume that during that rebuild they had these same type of growing pains. There is too much talent in the system for this team not to get better in the next year or so |

Vecchionne is hardly a young player. As well Lindblom has been playing against top talent players over in Europe. These are not kids just out of juniors. And bringing one up for a few games to see how they can play or spark this team, is not a detriment to their development if it doesn't work out and they need to be sent back down. Never have I heard how bringing up a player from the A for a few games destroyed their career. Let's be honest, those usually mentioned as a possible call up candidate are not any worse then the likes of Weise, Lehtera etc. - Buzzo
Vecchionne has played how many NHL games? Playing against top talent in Europe is not the same as in the NHL. They are players who are still developing as players, and that development should take precedence over what is happening with the Flyers currently.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't but I don't see why a team wouldn't try to change something up. Same thing was said about Weal and he did eventually get called up and gave them a spark. I see ZERO harm in calling someone up in Weiss' place who has not played well. I was fine with his signing because I liked the way he played in Montreal and was hoping his play in Chicago was just a bad fit but he has not played well here minus a handful of games. I sooner see someone else not named Lehtera and Read given a look in Weiss' place - nastyflyergirl
NHL teams just don't toss something against the wall and see if it sticks. They know with relative certainty whether players like Carey or Bardreau could help them improve. Hextall is not going to promote young player if he doesn't feel they're ready unless he is forced to. I don't think it's reached that point. Hextall may feel differently.

I don't think there was a single person who didn't admit that trade was a step backward for the present when the trade went down. that trade was 100% about the future. Schenn's name was placed in just about every trade proposal by fans and now people are whining about moving him. - nastyflyergirl
Actually there as a strong contingent of posters here who thought that the young players as a group would have no problem replacing Schenn's offense.

My favorite part of this whole stretch of play for the Flyers is going to be when AMac gets back and they start winning again and watching people fall all over themselves explaining it. - johndewar
To be fair if we look at the team as a whole, there have been some breakdowns and individual mistakes but GA isn't really the problem right now, it's scoring. I don't see MacDonald helping that a whole lot.
