True, but it's also been reported that since he moved in with some other players, he's been much happier and playing very well. Since Hagg is a close friend of his, I don't think he'd have a hard time adjusting to moving up with the Flyers. - BiggE
Isn't it after thanksgiving you see some moves before the roster freeze for the xmas holiday?
If this team keeps getting this type of secondary scoring I would assume you could see some changes. Not necessary trades but maybe someone is promoted to the Flyers and someone is waived to Lehigh |

It was just an example.
I just think this team could use some bite in it's game. The scoring is the top issue but I also think they lack some toughness. |

Yep that report was why I said he was struggling. Now I'm not sure about Hagg's living situation right now but if Oscar can move in with him it might help with part of the adjustment again that will be AHL to NHL game adjustment. |

At this point, I'll take a depressed Lindblom over a giddy Weise any day.

There was a cultural and language barrier when he first came here. Vecchione has been one of the guys being a major help to him. Hagg is his besty. Recalling vecchione with lindblom would help the team and help him cause he would have 2 guys he feels close to on the bench. He's a netter player than Weise lehtera without the puck and he's much better with it. To me it makes zero sense to leave him down. Vecchione was a 2 way forward who had to iron out a few things but he's not a liability in any area that would detriment him in the pros. He imo is a better option at center than the weal experiment who just is too much a d liability at center. Filpula has a descent shot and might be able to - like g - benefit from a move to the wing. Since you know he's older and has a similar style to g |

But think of the roles. Those two players aren't competing for the same role on the team. Weise takes up the useless plug that doesn't produce anything but is a stand up guy that says all the right things and plays super responsible role, while Lindblom needs top six minutes in order to develop properly which we won't know for sure until Hextall and company think so. |

Actually, what's funny is reading "obvious" solutions in fantasy land as compared to the real world task of running a team. - Scoob
It's a results based business. When the results aren't there people are going to question things. That is how sports work. I was reading the Blackhawks thread after they blew a 3 goal lead to the Devils and majority of the people in there were shredding everything. And look at the success the Hawks have had the last 8 years. |

The Flyers have historically never been a franchise that promotes an AHL player to the big club without an injury or suspension being involved.
I think we concluded that Giroux was the last player to be called up mid season (the 2nd time, not the emergency injury call up) to replace a non injured player in the lineup.
It's just not something that the Flyers do very often.

Bill,
why did Patrick get so little ice time? was he gassed?
on the lines-
why not bring up Vecchione, play him on the wing 4th line, move up raffle who has showed in the past he can score with a good center and winger. Maybe Patrick, Raffle and Simmonds. I prefer TK or Weal with them. I like Weise but he offers very little to a 3rd line. He doesnt have the hands or hockey sense |

There's always a first time.
edit: they did it more often in the 80s and early 90s, but yeah, in recent years it's been a rare thing. However they are now approaching 6 years without winning a playoff round, perhaps it's time to rethink that philosophy a bit.

Well there will probably be a suspension so does Morin come up or do they play Alt? |

If history is any indication, Alt will be called up. But they did call up Morin when Amac went down only to find out he was injured also. |

They said Tuesday? I think. But that wasn't locked in stone. I would bring up Morin even if it's just 2 games and let alt remain 7th. Once MacDonald is back send Morin down and let alt be 7th until gudas is back |

I would agree. In years past I would guess it was mostly due to cap concerns.
Now it is probably roster limits, waivers, and cap concerns in that order.
But you can't tell me Dale Weise is a better option than Oscar Lindblom.
I don't give a crap about Jiri (frank)ing Lehtera.

In reply to Bill:
Lindblom in for Weise sounds good for me.
Edit:
here's why, the Laughton line generates chances but struggles with finishing. So, replace Raffl with the more skilled Lindblom and perhaps they put a few in.
You then move Raffl, who has decent wheels and is very good on the forecheck, onto a line with Patrick and Konecny. That gives you a line with a good mix of speed, skill, size and grit.
Filppula can then center Simmer and Weal and you leave the top line as is. The Flyers have now scored a whopping 11 goals in their last 7 games. You can keep on doing the same old, same old or you can make changes. - BiggE
I'm on board with these line changes

Flyers only play one game between now and Tuesday. It probably won't be Morin if indeed MacDonald is ready to play Tuesday. I would think they will just plug Alt in for a game. |

Per Hakstol he wasn't getting PP or PK time that game. The game had a lot of Special teams play.

Yeah, my preference for right now would be for Read to be sent down and Lindblom to come up. But since you will likely need another Dman to replace Gudas for awhile and suspended players count against the roster, I'd also waive and demote Lehtera and bring up Morin, at least until AMac is ready to return. My lineup would be:
G-Coots-Jake
Weal-Filppula-Simmonds
Lindblom or Raffl-Patrick-TK
Lindblom or Raffl-Laughton-Leier
Provorov-Hagg
Manning-Ghost
Morin-Sanheim
spares: Weise & Alt
on IR: AMac
suspended: Gudas
in LHV: Read and Lehtera

They could do just that since the next week is either home or a game in Brooklyn if they need someone Allentown isn't a long ride. |
