The laughs under Holmgren are enough to sustain you for decades.

JVR for Luke Schenn wouldn't fly in the land of video game dorks.

I still remember hearing that deal and thinking the Flyers had to be getting something else....straight up....seriously?

The issues with the team currently is obvious. However the development strategy and process of developing young players should not be changed because of that. If they feel any of the young players are ready to make the jump then by all means make the change. If not, don't make one reactionary to the current state of the team.
- MJL

Vecchionne is hardly a young player. As well Lindblom has been playing against top talent players over in Europe. These are not kids just out of juniors. And bringing one up for a few games to see how they can play or spark this team, is not a detriment to their development if it doesn't work out and they need to be sent back down. Never have I heard how bringing up a player from the A for a few games destroyed their career. Let's be honest, those usually mentioned as a possible call up candidate are not any worse then the likes of Weise, Lehtera etc.

Exactly. Some folks were upset that Manning was on the ice during the last 2 minutes of last nights game. But with Gudas out, Hak's options were pretty limited. He's not going to, nor should he, use Ghost or Sanheim in that situation so he's only left with 3 options. And, contrary to popular opinion, Hagg and even the Russian Superman Provorov can't play the whole damned game. I pin the loss on Gudas as much as anyone, he simply can't take penalties like that.
- BiggE

I thought Manning played good last night. I thought Laughton should have collapsed more on Scheifele. But that was a bang bang play...

I actually thought Hakstol needs some of that responsibility by not using the timeout and getting Couturier back out.

I think Manning has actually played well.

Manning was fine. I was just pointing out how Gudas' dumbass move left us short of options when came to locking down a lead late in the game.

Sanheim was out there for the tying goal. He made a mistake that left Manning in no mans land and looking a lot worse than he is.

Lindbolm is adjusting to the North American rink in the AHL. Better to do that a bit there before going to the NHL.

And I think Hakstol even said that post game. That Gudas cost them the game.

Before the company men come in to tell us there isn’t a forward in the AHL since it is for the Dale Weise role, here is a mind-blowing thought.

What if I told you the Flyers organization, coach included, should re-evaluate what roles are needed on the ice to be successful in the first place?

I’ve only played deck hockey in high school gym class though. So take my opinion with that in mind.

I know. No sense in rehashing ancient history. The don't question the Flyers brass crowd because they are in pro hockey nonsense is pretty funny.

The question every move is also funny as some have worked out way better than anyone saw. It's not an exact science building a team that wins. Sometime you make a move and it works out great other times you make one and it fails miserably. Human nature is a funny thing.

Also this may sound counter to what the new NHL is but can I get a fight now and then? this team, while a small team, doesn't seem to have that bite in it's game they had to start the season.

Edmonton needs scoring. Would they do another small swap. Say a player like Raffl who can play up and down the lineup for say someone like Maroon, or maybe even Kassian?

And that's my point. At that stage of the game, it should have been the more experienced Gudas out there with Manning, but....

I'd be ok with Maroon, Kassian NO WAY. Do we really need 2 guys who at any moment can be a 10 game suspension for being a Dumbass?

We also know he was struggling early in the AHL. Adjusting to rink and culture of new country you live in have to be accounted for.

A small swap like that can change the team now but doesn't effect the long term goal of the Flyers plan.

True, but it's also been reported that since he moved in with some other players, he's been much happier and playing very well. Since Hagg is a close friend of his, I don't think he'd have a hard time adjusting to moving up with the Flyers.

Actually, what's funny is reading "obvious" solutions in fantasy land as compared to the real world task of running a team.
