Guy is a pretty loose canon though. Not to mention the concussions issues he has faced. |

Not that I'm against Shaw, I just want different. but maybe I shouldn't be too choosy.
I'm constantly going back and forth looking at the present and future. and I'm confused. do we want a player this age, or younger or a pick? does it matter? since we aren't likely to compete until EP has a few seasons of nhl under his belt. |

More like four or five years after he arrives. A lot of building left to do. Unless everything goes perfect |

I'd personally like them to make the playoffs when they have a chance to win. Going out in four straight is like not making them at all. - LeftCoaster
If the team can't make the playoffs when they have a chance to win this team is more (frank)ed than we originally thought.....
Going out in 4 sucks but you know as well as any that things don't always go the way they "should".
The record books are full of stories about teams who overachieve. If the Canucks by some chance make the playoffs, I'll be ecstatic.
Not because I believe they will win, but because it's fun to watch my team have a chance.
For an old guy, I'm surprised you don't remember the excitement of when a "bad" team makes the playoffs. |

Yes, it's the weak minded that fall for the round earth narrative.
If you go back and read my 6 years of posting you'll find many quality posts on the matter that clearly state my points which cannot be contended since i've made myself the utmost authority on the subject at hand.

It’s actually more of a tetradecahedron. The great dungeon master in the sky uses it to roll for damage when facing laser space dragons. |

Yeah but we were young and full of optimism, I remember watching the 82 series that was exciting until the last 4 games, the 94 series again that was damn exciting.
Watching LA, SJ and Calgary all bounce the team wasn't exciting.
So I can relate to both sides. |

The Calgary series sucked that we lost but watching Horvat was a lot of fun. The difference in the SJ and LA series is we still were considered contenders.
I wasn't paying attention in 82, 94 was a lot of fun obviously. 96 was awesome too even though we lost in the first round. Linden hat trick in game 5 OT loss. Game 6 Naslund was a factor and they lost in a close game and series.
2001 and 2002 were both years as well where they lost in the first round but it was a lot of fun. Nucks won 8 or 9 games in a row to make the playoffs in 02 and the won the first 2 games against the power house wings.....
This is why you watch the games....not to dream about some kid putting on a sweater.

I personally watch hoping that the team plays well and can pull out a win, I also believe that realistically the team is overachieving. And that the best course of action for the long term would to draft as high as possible. That's not to mean Benning and Linden go onto the draft floor after smoking a few reefers, I would love another top 3 preferably or top 5.
But for tonight I'll go out on a limb and say Canucks move into second place in the division tonight.

Top picks would be a nice consolation prize for me. This is the first time in years I'm enjoying every game so I'm already happy.
I agree they are overachieving, mostly because of goaltending. That said I do think Sedin's and Eriksson, not necessarily together, have more to give. Granlund and Gagner too.

Nope. Just a fan of a hockey team that actually likes to see them succeed. Sorry for that... |
