I still wish they would have went after Yakupov.

I don't like the trend of bringing old Hawks back. I mean, let it go already. I get that it's "low risk, potential reward" situation. But, the dude is 35, had a major hip injury and concussion problems last season.

It just seemed like a PR move to me.

Would have rather taken a chance on a younger Winger in Yakupov and see what he could do.

Just my opinion, though.

I'd pass on Yakupov, I don't think the team needs an inconsistent forward. At the start of the season there was nothing to indicate that Yakupov would be any better than his previous seasons. Even this year he's gone good chucks without scoring. I'd take a chance on Hinostroza or Highmore before I'd try Yakupov.

Rangers at 25% PP efficiency - time for the Hawks to not only play well on the PK, which they have this year (83.6% - 10th in the league), but also to stop taking penalties - 6.18 minutes per game, 9th most in the league.

Too bad they can't score on the PP (14.3% - 28th in the league) because they've had the most opportunities in the league (7.08 minutes per game).

Hopefully the Hawks can start a streak upwards tonight ... don't know ... hoping ... we shall see. Seabrook and Sharp are off of the power play units tonight. Let's watch and see if there is any improvement. Like to see more shots from the point, higher. Too many times, they shoot for deflection or rebounds ... but the shots never get through ! Forsling and Keith on one unit and Franson and Schmaltz on another. Power play needs to score timely goals to change the course of a game. Also, I am hoping Quenville addressed the Hawks coverage in their own zone. It was terrible on Sunday and has been not good all year long. All five on the ice are responsible, not just talking about the defensemen. If they can clean up their play in the defensive zone, should mean more time in the offensive zone - hopefully. Clean these two areas up and be consistent game after game, and maybe there is hope

Justin. Bowman is still sitting on Cap space from the Hossa move to LTIR. Any word on when, if, or what he may be doing with this space???
If it is saved for a "Trade-deadline" move....we may not even be in the playoff hunt to make it worthwhile.
Seems teams are starting to tweak their lineup with big and small moves.....are the Hawks in on anything to help right this ship???

These line do not inspire much confidence in me ,DBC on the off wing . Well at least Boumma is out ,his one stupid penalty a night should not be missed .

Saad Toews Panik
Debrincat AA KANE
HARTMAN SCHMALTZ Vinny !!!
Sharp Wingles Hayden

I did really like what I seen of Schmaltz on the wing ,but feel he is a better center . And that improved jump may have been due to shaking off the residue effects of the UB injury he had .The defense I am not sure about other then to say we should get it down to 7 and play everyone on the correct side .That offside Sh_t has been hot trash since Q stated it ,and made me Doubt Jhammer ability ,who I believe will be in Montreal soon . Well that is all from the Armchair . Time load up on good old Canadian Beer it could be a long night

Couldn't agree more.

Yakupov has been a major disappointment in the NHL. For the few good games he has, he has a lot poor ones.

the key here is playing a 60 minute game. Ever since they beat Boston in the 2013 Cup final where they won in the final minutes of game 6, this team has tried again and again to beat the 60 minute system and see if they can win playing 35 to 40 minutes a night. The last game was another example, not of how far the Devils have come but how the Hawks like to finish the game long before the buzzer.
Goals in the last minute of a period, giving up the first 2 goals of the game, stagnant power play, are just a few of the areas that have plagued this team since the 2013 championship. In 2015 they still had the talent. In 2011 they had a much better team than this year's version, but got behind in the Vancouver series 3-0 only to lose in game 7.
This is lack of leadership from in the locker room and from behind the bench. Now it appears as if Q has lost this team. The rookies are playing as well as one can play looking over their shoulder.
The core either is dis interested or the drop off of talent cannot support their mediocre efforts game in and game out. Then when Cory blows a tire we get the game we saw vs the Devils. Without Cory this team looks like the Avs from last year.
Stan it's time to shake this group up before a 5 game losing streak takes you out before Christmas!

I don't get all the Bouma hate. He is pretty much doing his job as a 4th line guy and only has 5 minor penalties (half of either Panik/Seabrook). He isn't gonna win any awards, but he plays physical and doesn't seem to take shifts off. He can play the PK a bit too.

Yakupov is probably better than Sharp at this stage of their careers. Both are not very good. Lol

Same here. I'd like to see Vinny called up mostly cause I'd like to see him on the 3rd or 4th line but also for the patented epic Wonthecup10 rant that would follow.

Reports that the Blues are aggressively pursuing Evander Kane. Preds made a massive upgrade to their roster in Turris, and Evander Kane on the Blues with Schwartz or Tarasenko would be a huge boost. Stan Bowman needs to improve this roster, and fast.

Stan will roll out the usual "we like our team" and then make a subpar move 6 weeks to late

The team only has just under $2.5 million in cap space. They have a bit more after you factor in dropping a player (i.e. Oesterle) to make room for an acquisition.

There are better players available ,his role is not that important to the team .And he is not that good at what he does ..Bring back Vinny !!!!

On a positive note, you will likely move UP that list way faster with a failing Hawks team!!! "Glass half full" view...

I hear what you're saying...but say Stan acquired E Kane for a reasonable price would that help the likes of Toews, Kane, Saad, Keith and Seabrook play better?

I agree that Stan needs to make a move to improve the team, but the biggest source of improvement needs to be from the current group of players themselves.

I think it would definitely help every player on his line with his speed, skill, physicality and pure finishing ability. It would, in theory, help the overall scoring depth of the Hawks. Maybe that slots Panik or Schmaltz on line 3 for more balance. E.Kane has 10 goals already this season on a pretty bad Sabres team. He is playing for a contract so will be very motivated the rest of this season. I'd at least be giving the Sabres a call on what the price for E.Kane is......
