All this Toews and Seebs Hate makes me sick ,just a bunch of front runners . 2 weeks ago 1/2 this board wanted AA traded slow makes to much money ,now he's god .. What a bunch of band wagoner's.Great game by the HAWKS top to bottom AA FROSLING Debrincat the 3 stars in my book . With a few tweaks this line -up as Constructed can be very good . Drag Q into the present and we have a chance . GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry oldduff...your one man pompom cheerleading is fine but your reasoning is way off...a great game...dont think so...the team is certainly showing some life offensively...but 19 continues to be colossal enigma for over 2 years...his game has dropped off and there is no way to cover that with your pom-pom waving...

seabs drop-off is dramatic; he is slow, his passes anemic, cant get his shot on net and just plain lazy at times....

Nonsense. You should be paid WHAT YOU ARE WORTH. That's how pay works. Going on that silly idea, the Oilers should still be paying Wayne Gretzky. Seabrook is horrifically overpaid.

Right McDavid makes more Mattews soon will and they have ZERO !! CUPS . u Would still be crying if Toews or Kane left and the cup went with them ..

My takeaways from tonight....

Q's blender finally made something good, 8-15-88.

Franson needs to sit. I'm sure this is at the very least a near unanimous sentiment on this board.

For all the talk about Bouma on here, I liked the energy he and that line brought tonight.

The missed shot that allowed Nash to spring free for that breakaway, aren't those to be avoided with a 2 goal lead that late?

This win wasn't pretty, and I think ADB's goal that trickled through Lundqvist was a demoralizer, and brought the Hawks to the 4-1 lead.

I think there is too much slagging on Toews on here. Probably still playing through something. Had to lose weight because of the back, I'm guessing, and still trying to adapt. He's not going to be the force down low on the cycle anymore. I hope he can reinvent himself. Seeing him steal that puck and get that breakaway tells me that he can.

Looks like whatever injury Anisimov has is no more. If we're going to talk about trading him, let it be a sell high scenario, value for value. Not a please take him and his contract off our hands. As I said before, I'm sure Torts and Panarin would love to have him in Columbus.

Schmaltz is the new 2LW. I think playing center will take a big toll on him.

Patience is required here. For those who constantly say sell all these guys, we won't get jack if we have to sell from a position of weakness. I love playing armchair GM just as much as the next guy, but it's hard to win trades when they are made from a position of weakness. Most of the trades Bowman made were made from a position of weakness. Maybe a handful of GM's would have fared better, maybe not.

Speaking of who do we trade, my first pick is still Panik. I don't see him being the answer long term at 1RW here. I hope I'm proven wrong.

What is the ultimate ceiling on ADB? Easy to get excited at times, until he gets knocked on his ass the next shift, but he seems to be learning quickly there, too.

Enzo, sometime it's best to watch a hockey game and enjoy it instead of critiquing every play and player on the home side. Its entertainment and if I would have paid for tickets I would be going home happy with for the money spent.

9 goals scored, lots of speed, good & bad goaltending, odd man rushes, some terrific individual efforts, some horrible puck management - on both sides. Helluva lot better than watching a 2-1 game played by teams who love the neutral zone trap.

And Forsling was great tonight, awesome to see.

- RickJ

It's difficult for me to turn off my coaching eye, but I did thoroughly enjoy the game. Lots of positives especially on defense and from the 8-15-88 line. Do you disagree with my analysis of Toews?? He's simply not playing good hockey. It's one thing for his offensive ability to fall off a cliff but if he's going to coast around all night then I cannot hold my tongue (or fingers in this case).

i see your point...but a little to much drama the last 3 games...kid was very good saved the hawks from blowing another 3 goal lead on that wrap around...this game ends differently if that goes in

[quote=kwolf68]It's normal dude. Fans react, get over it man. Even though they don't see the same rainbows and unicorns you do doesn't mean they are front runners or bad fans. Anisimov was great tonight. I know the drill with him. He'll be great for about 2-3 weeks, then vanish for 2-3 weeks. I am glad he did well tonight, but if someone wanted to pony up something for him I'd still trade him tonight for the right deal.

That's a bingo

At least he gave effort tonight. Toews' play was lazy and pathetic. His teammates picked him up. Sorry you can't handle critical commentary. It's a message board. There were some great things...AA, Forsling to name two. Forsling is really coming along.
- kwolf68

Lazy and pathetic? You missed the plays when he carried the puck up ice himself, gained the zone and put the puck on his teammates stick for a chance. He did it multiple times. You missed when he nearly put the Hawks on the board early in the game?

I'm not saying he had a great game, but it wasn't so bad. Like most of the Hawks best players, he has been cold. (his wingers aren't doing a thing either)

Seabrook had one of his better games in a while, which was a good turn of events.

Problem is Toews did NOT win the Cup by himself. The depth of those teams, especially 2010 and 2013 was magical.

He is 29, still in his prime and after tonight's game Mats Zuccarello is going to have to start paying property taxes for his ownership of Toews.

They also finally figured out can't give it up to Kane to carry into offensive zone over and over and over again

I think if some people were taking about trading AA it's because he's the easiest guy to trade who has value.

I was reading this and thinking I was going to ask you what you thought about Panik and then you got to that. I agree that I'm not sold on him as a top 6 RW.
There still seems to be a Hossa sized hole in the roster. Panik does get some production based on his fundamentals, good skating and shooting well, but he just isn't the guy that can be an x-factor or game breaker like a star player.

He was paid for what he accomplished , in a era that the cap was expected to go up !! Better then what other teams are doing now paying for what they hope their players may accomplish .
- oldduffman

Wasn't it coach Dikka who said that the past is for losers. I'm watching hockey in 2017. All I want to see is a team that competes and gives a 100% every shift, not much to ask of guys making between $7M and $10.5M.

Not really. He has a NTC. The easiest guys to trade are players like ADB, Hayden, Forsling, etc...because

1-they are young
2-cheap
3-have no ntcs
and good

No Pompom needed bin a fan since the sixties ,seen the good bad and ugly . I still criticize coaching and player personnel decisions . But what Toews and Seebs have brought this team, is the greatest glory in it's long history .And to listen to ungrateful fans slagging them makes me embarrassed to be a HAWKS fan ..

About the Powerplay and thinking about it more tonight after seeing it again and it seems like teams are just content to let Kane have space and time on the half boards. Pretty much they just cover the cross ice pass and the front of the net and dare him to do something. Most of the Hawks are stationary, Kane looks and waits, nobody creates any movement to open anything up and then they turn it over. Rinse and repeat.

Well Toews wasn't great tonight as has been the case for quite a few games over the last 2 years. But if you were watching with your coaching eye, you also probably made note of Matt Zuccharello's extra effort and hard work. Or do you only coach with a Blackhawks jersey on?

And while we are all so worried about Toews' salary, do you think AV went into the dressing room after the game and blew up at Lundqvist because he stunk and makes too much money and hopes the GM will trade him for draft picks so they can rebuild?

I want to believe that ADB will be that 1RW. Not a Hossa (because who is?), but seems to have more upside than Panik does, anyway.

AA deserves some kudos for that first career hattrick. I hope he can get into a groove and keep it going with consistency and avoid the disappearing act he did for the first month of the season.

Hawks put 43 shots on the the Rangers. Took two penalties (one was a double minor) and played more disciplined staying out of the box after the first.

The kid's confidence is growing and it would be great. That line could use a guy with his play-making creativity.

I want to think we saw a glimpse of the future when Toews fed him with that hard pass that he tapped in as he streaked to the net.

He's got a long way to go, i always worry since the game is so big and fast which typically neutralizes many many many great players from inferior league's. He seems to be getting better and better, and the shot off his stick has a way of finding the back of the net, but again the league is good at adjusting and neutralizing players so time will tell

Oh give me a friggin break.
Yes those two players helped the Hawks regain glory.
Unfortunately its a business and even though we would like it to be gumdrops and lollipops all day long and we would like to sprinkle fairy dust every time Toews hits the ice that would be nice but that's not reality...Toews did well, he got the adulation, he got the fame, he got paid mega millions, he got he hot GF, etc. but guess what that was yesterday, today you need to produce cause you're getting paid like the best player in the league yet the last two years youre been playing like the 100th player in the league.....its not being ungrateful its being realistic, and like I said its a business so if you're not producing then you're going to get criticized, that's called life in the big city and it happens to all pro athletes at one time or another - cant have it both ways, sorry.

Oldduffman used the word "gritty" earlier... great description for that win.

Moving forward, be prepared for most wins to be a battle. The Hawks better have plenty of "grit" because the overall talent has diminished and this league is too close now.

Last year, the Hawks came out more times than not in tight games. This year, it's been a struggle.

Their offence is coming around, but their defensive work is a train wreck still.

All aboard the roller coaster? It's going to be a wild ride for a while.

Be back in the AM with some quick thoughts.

The other thing I've noticed about the team in general, they are playing quicker, maybe to much thinking instead of playing hockey was going on? Definitely enjoy seeing a bunch of red sweaters in front of the opposing goalies.
