Because Domingue might be worst goalie ever to play in NHL
- MaximusAurelius

3.01 and .906 career. you're hitting tanner level exaggerations.

A bit over stated when talking about 3 ahl players.
- winsix

ahl salaries: mcginn and leighton - $200k each
domingue: $1M

cost saving move by the yotes.

we should be in a good position to trade for hammer if they are looking for more cost saving trades.

Yeah, but it was with Arizona.

It's not like that team is a dumpster fire.

He traded an AHL backup and an AHL 3rd liner for him.
How's that a bad trade?

- AdamFrench

Speaking about trades Adam: do you think that the Habs might try to move Price?
I think he has a NMC and a modified NTC but he might be interested in going to a contender..... and Bergevin seems to be dancing on hot coals.

why do people never want to admit that goalies might be the issue when teams are losing??

raanta is a good goalie.
domingue already cost the coyotes 4-6 points.

that might be a little harsh.
Reinhart is not performing at a 2nd overall should but he's still decent.
Two 40 plus pt seasons.
Bennett, hasnt lived up to the hype for sure and not a great pick at 4 ...but has 66 pts in 176 games. Not good...but not horrible.

Nylander was an f'n steal!

- Fakepartofme

Not sure how Nylander was a steal.
I'm googling around to see various draft rankings - Bob McKenzie had him at #9.

Button had him at #9.

THN had him at 6.

ISS had him at 5.

McKeens had him at 8.

It basically came down to taking Nylander or Ehlers - couldn't really go wrong either way.

I just don't think the Leafs deserve high praise for the pick - they got pretty much what you would expect at #8 that year.

i wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking about it.

would have to be a crazy ass trade. real hard to pull of during the year.

idk, just pulling this one out my ass: crawford, seabrook for price, patches.

He's a valuable commodity for any team wanting to tank. Vancouver should trade for him now. Between him and Bernier the sky's the limit.

Que the Boston sucks comments, but my season tickets to the Bruins this year are not garnering nearly what they did on the market as last year

I'm up in the nosebleeds, but could get about 125-140$ a piece for a good Saturday matchup. I sold my seats against the Kings on a Saturday night for 60$

I find it weird seeing as we didn't make the playoffs the last 2 years before those seasons, but did last year. It's not like the team is significantly worse. Hopefully it turns around as its not as easy of a situation to manage anymore.

- RickJames77

Two years ago, there were nights where I struggled to give away my Leafs tickets.

Those days are gone.

He's there for life, or until he becomes Luongo and the cap is high enough to move him to the Coyotes in year 12 of the rebuild.

- RickJames77

The Coyotes missed 3 months of payments for their dumpster, so the dumpster company came and took the dumpster away.

So technically speaking, the Arizona Coyotes are now a open fire of trash in the parking lot behind the (temporary) arena, not dumpster fire.

P.S. James Tanner really likes their Combusti ratings.

Reasonable point Wedgie, but you are comparing him to Ehlers. Many wanted the Leafs to pick Ritchie, and then you must consider that he was better than 5 of the 7 picks before him that year. Was a great pick. Only two that were probably more impressive were Pastrnak at 25 and Wings pick.

I can see that, but wouldnt surprise at all if they at least tried before that huge contract kicks in. They did it with Subban.

Regarding the bold:

The Leafs get no credit for that (feel free to credit Nylander).

Selecting those guys was never an option for the Leafs, so you can't say that management made a smart decision not taking those guys.

Or until the fans turn on him, and he demands out.

But that could never happen in Montreal...

Im not praising the leafs. Considering who was drafted at 5, 6, 7 and how they turned out....to get Nylander at 8 and to see how he's turned out so far. He's a steal. IMO.

I'll give you that point.

Central Scouting had the following ratings on North American and European skaters.

ce: NHL Central Scouting final (April 8, 2014) ranking.[5]

Ranking North American skaters[6] European skaters[7]

1 Canada Sam Bennett (C) Finland Kasperi Kapanen (C)
2 Canada Aaron Ekblad (D) Sweden William Nylander (C/RW)
3 Canada Sam Reinhart (C) Switzerland Kevin Fiala (LW)
4 Germany Leon Draisaitl (C) Czech Republic Jakub Vrana (LW/RW)
5 Canada Michael Dal Colle (C/LW) Czech Republic David Pastrnak (RW)
6 Canada Jake Virtanen (RW) Sweden Adrian Kempe (LW)
7 Canada Nick Ritchie (LW) Sweden Marcus Pettersson (D)
8 Canada Brendan Perlini (LW) Czech Republic Ondrej Kase (RW)
9 Canada Haydn Fleury (D) Sweden Sebastian Aho (D)
10 Canada Jared McCann (C) Czech Republic Dominik Masin (D)

The pick was excellent
