Have you seen the way Marner's been playing the last 3 weeks. Way too inconsistent for my taste. No thank you. What it took for Minnesota to get Hanzal at the deadline last year as a rental is nothing compared to what the price will be for JT.
- bgainesDM

I'm giving you an example. I'm not saying Marner coming. It could be Nylander what Im getting at is it doesn't have to be draft choices which you said it was GOING TO BE

Remember how Sakic wasn't going to get shat because he waited on the trade, you say that too?

Just wrong saying we are getting draft picks if JT leaves, you have no idea.

Not sure what team you've been watching but I haven't seen that consistently this season? Also, you avoided the question again

If it's a 3-way trade, sure. Again, if I'm Lou, I'm fixing up my defense in the roster first before ever considering a move for JT.

Lets face it Snow is not going to trade JT at all this year. Not going to happen. He will let him walk at the end of the year and that will be it. Especially if we are in a playoff spot. I Would bet anything on this happening

Assuming we win the RFP, I'll gladly take that bet.

I think Yzerman would move mountains to add JT. Initially wgem you look at it you say its most ljkely not going to happen but whem a gm wants a player like tavares they make it happen. We've all seen this before
- Cptmjl

Yes true and Stevie Y has certainly shown what he can do the last 3 years here as far as Cap management and keeping his team together.

I just think Cpt. if they continue to play the way they are playing now then he leaves this team alone. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it imho.

I think a guy like Barzal is a huge help along with Eberle and hopefully Beau and Ho Sang. Pulock and some of the young D could help as well. Goalie will need to be settled.
- ses111

was going back and forth with dan about this i want greiss and soderstrom as a back up but he thinks thats asking too much for a rookie, he may need a year in the ahl first. halak is gone so someone needs to be here next year

Not a crazy thought at all. They're firing on all cylinders. Who on here said Tampa sucked would be horrible this season and yzerman was a horrible GM? Can't remember?

Yeah the guy that says all he cares about is winning is going to sign an 8 yr deal with a team that's been consistently inconsistent since they drafted him. Think about that.

I think the Arena certainly is an issue he wants to see resolved for stability, however he wants to win and if he does't think it's here than he moving on.

Truly if you think about it. its going to take 3 to 4 years for this arena to be completed before they start playing there so thats basically half of his new deal.

50/50 he stays for me at this point. They get the deal it moves to 75/25 he stays.

I appreciate your optimism but there is no way that is happening with the crew we have. You always say how bad other teams are but yet to see how bad your real team is. We are still a little ways away from that if we were not I bet JT would have signed during the summer no matter where we are playing

Only consistent player on this team has been Halak.

the team hopes for a 22 month build and yes thats with l.i. politics but the governor wants this done and its on state land and malkin is a big time developer and they did the practice arena if 4 month and they can donate to his campaign for president and its the last one thats going to grease the wheels

You gotta be kidding me. Regardless if it's Garth or any other GM, no GM will let him walk for nothing if the Isles are guaranteed to stay in NY. Unless they're dead buried in February, he will not ask for a trade nor leave.

- bgainesDM

Your kidding yourself. Most guys play to win a SC. If the Isles aren't in a position to at least make a run at it, why the hell would he stay? Regardless of the arena. Staying in NY doesn't mean jack-shit if the roster doesn't improve the way he thinks it should.

while you are correct this group up front can score a lot, the d needs tweaking and if they land a goalie they are closer then they have been in awhile

Well lets be honest. With everything we have to go on at this point he is being an arsehole. "I'm in no rush " "it's a big decision". Givemeafucjingbreak. He knew about his impending FA from the onset. If he walks he's a scummer and Snow is an even bigger idiot for letting it happen and not doing anything about it like getting a big return like he could have in the summer.
- Cptmjl

I'm not happy how this thing has dragged out. I'm not going to excuse Garth or the owners in how they have run this team, but JT has it in his power to ask for a trade if he is unhappy. I do not think A star player on any team should just walk away from that team without the team getting anything back. If the team does not want to discuss contract with that player duing the season or honor a trade request that's on the team. It's on the player if he does not request a trade or does not want to sign and just walks for nothing.
