Phil is playing some great hockey right now. The best I’ve seen him as a Pen. |

The first cup run was pretty special, but yeah, the overall game and effort is the best we've seen him. |

Agreed, He was great then but he is taking over right now. It’s awesome. And desperately needed with Sid playing like a sac. |

I like Haglin in the top six. He doesn’t finish but he forces the play and creates turnovers. If he could just find his hands again... |

Yup. Why no Kessel there? I'm guessing Sully was trying to build confidence. |

If I'm trying to build confidence in Letang, I take away as much responsibility as possible & simplify his role. Go back to baby steps. Philbo is on fire at the moment & should be given the nod in my opinion. Rust even. It's as if the whole team is relying on 4 guys at the moment & Sully is letting them. |

Again it goes back to a short period where the Pens bled goals in quick succession - & multiple goals (3 in this case). If they can tighten up after a goal that won't happen. Not sure how to do that, but it appears opposition teams know if they score 1 then more are on the cards if they can turn up the pressure.
Also, our PK isn't real hot. I thought 'anyone' can kill penalties effectively???
And wtf with our PP. 1 day I hear there's just too much talent on the ice not to score, & the next we can't buy a PP goal with that exact same talent??? |

I would have gone with Kessel....an easy choice, I'm just wondering why Sully chose Letang. Showing confidence in him is the only thing I can think of.
Anyway, he has no choice but to rely on 4 guys. When Sid and Letang are playing like hot garbage, who's he going to rely on? He has no choice but to wait it out. It would be nice to get a goal out of the bottom 6, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. |

I'd be putting pressure on Shultz & taking it off Tanger. Also let's say about 5 minutes of TOI split between a few other Dmen. He has issues, he needs less responsibility & more time to sort it out. I think I saw someone say he's trying not to let himself get into bad positions for contact, that will surely (frank) him up until it becomes a natural reflex if it actually can. Borque said in the first period he had a chance to shoot a puck as soon as it came to him but rather played with it a little side to side before shooting. That gave the D more time & his shot was a non effective effort. He also said he doesn't know why but his shooting accuracy is terrible - which hopefully time playing will rectify. |

Letang's shooting accuracy was never very good. I think it goes back to when he was growing up and was so much better than everyone else that he controlled the game to the point that he didn't need to shoot from a distance. His shootout moves back up that theory. I agree 100% with the remainder of the comment, Letang doesn't need more ice time. |
