He's a plus skater and certainly skates well enough to play on a 4th line in the NHL. - MJL
No doubt he belongs on the 4th line but I would absolutely hate a 4th line of Leier/Lehtera/Weiss. HATE two players i want to see upgraded on in the lineup are Lehtera (hopefully with Patrick) and Weiss. but that's me
I have to admit I am surprised Raffl has zero points. at least all 3 players are even or better. |

They have guys in Vechh and Martel that could be upgrades. Little surprised we haven’t seen either. |

Raffl has played well enough but he's played like a 4th line guy. I would say leier Laughton have been better than that. I'd like to see them get a shot with a more skipped forward like weal and maybe they become a de facto 2nd 3rd line |

How do you explain that you're apparently uninformed of the prospect base that the Flyers have?

I just don't think you will see a line like Leier-Laughton-Weal because they are all undersized. |

as others have said Martel probably won't get a look unless he is inserted in for Weal or Konecny. lets hope both of those guys stay healthy. of course if he keeps scoring like he is maybe he gets a shot. Could see Vecchione called up if there is a rash of injuries but otherwise I think he will spend the year with the Phantoms. they lose Filppula and Read after this year, altho it wouldn't shock me if Filppula is back. Could see him get a real shot to make the team next year.

The other half of the coin is vecchione while playing well still has work he can do on his defensive game. Everyone sees the offensive numbers and they assume he's nhl ready.

gotta really hope that Patrick develops into that #1/2, then you have Couturier and Laughton. as far as the prospects you have Vecchione, Vorobyev, Laberge, Bunnaman, Frost, Laczynski and Marody that you hope you can find a center or two and maybe even a player or two moved to the wing.

I've seen all of one phantoms game so I can't say with any knowledge how any of them are playing. I wish more games were televised. Allentown is close by but is still an hr away. man did I love when the Phantoms played at the Spectrum. I went to a lot of games as well as the Flyers game. |

Agree. We use to get to play at the spectrum when I was younger for both hockey and soccer. Got a lot of free phantoms and kixx tickets.
My only point is while vecchione has potential to contribute to bottom 6 he's not necessarily better in his all around game than a Weise today. I see him on this roster next year though. This year probably not unless injuries specifically to centers (otherwise they probably reward mcdonald) or trades |

Im coming in late so I am not sure of your criteria. But what about Rubtsov?
I also think Matthew Strome is going to get his skating better and be the sleeper pick of that draft when its all said and done. The kid is huge and has NHL hands. |

I expect Rubtsov will be a player. The Flyers haven't blown a first round pick in a long time. They've got two firsts coming up for 2018. I expect them to make more hay with that in stocking up the forwards. They look set with D and goalie prospects. I think they're in the driver's seat. |

First 3 picks are gonna be 2 Fs and a D, in some order. We can't ignore defense, because rememwbe when everyone comes up at once, which is kind of happening, it leaves the coffers bare. I suspect they mix a D pick in there up highish |

I can't imagine a scenario where hextall doesn't take a defenseman with 1 of his 2 firsts with the deepest defenseman draft in a century. 18 guys in the top 30 prospects for this draft |

That's a good point, I didn't even think of how D heavy the top end of this draft is. Can't wait for their higher first rounder to turn into a Dman and Flyerdom freaks |

Tra la la trade up in this year's draft ? 😂 - Tfaehner
We were talking this yesterday, not sure if you saw my response at 10ish, but my general thought on trading up in the draft.
Its deep, particularly for Dman, and I expect to pick between 13-18 and 25-28 from St. Louis. A few mocks have about 8-12 dman going in the upper 20 picks, leaving a fair few forwards on the board at the 13-18 range; however, I dont know the quality of the forwards expected in that range. Maybe you can get one there if a slew of dman go higher in the draft?
I guess it depends on who the flyers identify as their targets. They have show they have specific targets and not afraid to make moves to get them (Konecny, Rubstov and Ratcliffe come to mind). I wouldn't be upset if they traded up.
With all that said, I still feel that the better choice is to hold on to the picks and draft BPA.
Also, I dont think that their contract number is a reason to move up as Mono suggested. They have 8-11 minor league contracts that they likely are not going to resign. Plus they hold rights for at minimum 3 years.

Absolutely, every goal scored against them takes a little chunk from each of those Cups.
While we continue to hope and pray and pray and pray for at least another shot to play for a Cup 2010 or win a cup so long ago I have to take my shoes off to do the math.
I hope we have guys all our team +40 and again sadly we won't be playing for a Cup. - Konalover
if only they could have thrown Laughton into a trade just to get rid of him |

They're also getting to the point where they might package a couple of those picks and move up. They don't have that many holes to fill. |

In my mind, that's not the right attitude to have when drafting. I say aquire picks, get as many quality players in your farm system. If you are lacking in one area, you can always attempt to make a trade in another one.
This is just my personal take on drafting. |

In this year's draft you may be right but I do believe we are getting towards a we need quality over quantity scenario and our picks are going to get further back in the first as we continue to get better. This might be the last year we have the ammunition to go out and get a high pick without trading a roster player. |
