Haha cheers buddy, I'll be there too. I'm almost not sure who to root for. I don't believe the hawks will win or even compete for a cup with this current team/coach. So I almost want them to lose so the necessary changes are made early, rather than give us false hope later in the season and have another 1st rd exit.

But also the Canes are such an exciting team to watch, the game pace is just night and day compared to the Hawks... I think I'm gonna pull for another hawks embarrassment, maybe the Canes can hit 70 SOG against this putrid group. Crawford is gonna have to continue to be great in order for them to come up with a W.

And if you have been to any Hawks games here in the past several years, you know how they play--quite often one of their worst games of the year.

Maybe we will be surprised!

Rolling the dice on the salary cap increasing with the Toews and Kane deals, locking up Anisimov a year early then rewarding Seabrook with that ridiculously long extension has put a dagger in it. These guys are not up and comers and with the exception of Kane, Crawford and Keith not worth what they make. Qs system and voice are done now and it seems like they have to play a perfect game every night with Crawford standing on his head to even have a chance. As someone said earlier, don't wait too long to cut ties or the rebuild will be long and ugly.

How the (frank) did we beat the Penguins 10-1?
- SimpleJack

I think it goes without saying, I was very pleased and quite surprised after that 10-1 win.

The real excitement for me though was routed in how the Hawks played. From the second the puck dropped, they played like they were STILL p*ssed off about that embarrassing sweep in April.

Then in game #2, there was some of those positive trends of quick puck possession and overall a very fast paced play.

That, has since faded... and boy did it fade quick.

I was worried heading into this season about the defense. It scared me when I actually felt better after they signed Cody Franson.

We can all point to the guys not scoring but I believe this starts at the backend.

I will have an in-depth look at the defense situation. Lots of blame to go around for the way this team is structured and performing, but we'll start here and work our way to a logical solution.

I have my thought! What are you guys seeing from D-men #1-#8 this season in terms of play and overall structure?

Some good thoughts here Kwolf...both are to blame. Q continues to play guys on their off side on defense and the powerplay continues to be near the worst in the league a 5 on 3 for almost a full two minutes last night. No question its time for a new voice in the room.

But look at the roster he's been handed by that Mastermind Stan. You refer to the Daley situation - point is had Bowman moved Sharp for picks Daley wouldn't have been here. The Rundblad move is still baffling - after winning a cup you know you need a 4D and your first move is to bring back Runny - Bowman should have been axed that day. After the Sharp fiasco Bowman still knows he needs a 4D and he adds three forwards. The last two of which Flash and Weise were hot garbage and cost us a really nice young center in Danault.

Look at Leddy the summer before where Bowman held onto him well past the sell date and then got fleeced (as he usually does) by this time Garth Snow. The following spring he gets rid of Shaw and has yet to replace his 'net front presence'.
And the return is another smurf forward who Stan specializes in. Meanwhile Stan continues to hand out overpays for past performance and NMCs like they're candy which has certainly effected his ability to shape the roster.

I have to agree if Q goes I have no faith in Bowman rebuilding this team and it could get really ugly.

Question
If Joel is canned he gets the next Coaching opening

If Stan gets fired does he land anywhere?

I actually thought that last night was their overall best all around game on the back end. The forwards didn't help at all until the 2nd half of the game. Even Forsling and Seabs paired up looked decent. Murphy had his best game. None of their goals were really defensive breakdowns. Just gpretty passing and a horrid turnover by Sharp (and the linesman)

Oh god Saturday's game is going to be fun. Hurricanes last. three games... 60 shots on net, 37 shots on net, 48 shots on net. If the Hawks come out as lethargic as they did tonight, they are in deep deep sh*t.
- Toew Drags 4 Daze

If they had come out playing like they did the second and third, we'd be talking about a win. CF by period was 39%, 74%, 71%. They allowed 6 high danger shots in the first, 2 in the second, and none in the third. The lack of jump in the first lost us that game.

Eh, they had the better play towards the end. Looked better after Sharp went to the 4th line where he belongs. Or press box. Probably press box so one of the kids with some speed can get into the line up.

Good game from Murphy. Brandon Saad is a man.

Seabrook lol.

You'd think its just a matter of time before goals start going in. Not a lot to complain about last night aside form the 1st line in the 1st period (Sharp is that bad at hockey now) and the final score. Tomorrow should be an interesting match up.

They are not going to start going in if they keep taking bad angle and perimeter shots. I re-watched the first two games yesterday. Most of the goals were scored with speed and players attacking the net (and sitting in front of it). We haven't seen that consistently in at least three weeks.

They actually had a lot of high danger shots in the 3rd. 1 in the first, 2 in the second, 6 in the 3rd. They need a consistent effort all game.

Lack of effort, mostly. They can still crank it and dominate like the did in the 2nd half of the game, they just don't until it's too late.

Don't know why they wait till the last 10 minutes to start playing with energy/desire. HC issue? Somewhere there is a huge disconnect with this group.

If Q gets fired he won't be unemployed long. He'll get another coaching job wherever he wants.

Stan gets fired (please Jod) he probably doesn't get another GM opportunity.

Yes.

Lot of miles on your guys -- and yes, you have the Cups to show for it.

But the reality of it is what it is: Nothing lasts forever.

I don't pretend to have every answer, and fans of the team know what your prospect pool looks like.

But if it's me, I find ways to get out from under Seabrook's deal at a minimum, and very quietly whisper about Toews.

Not because anybody hates them or they can't play or they are horrible people.

It's professional sports. Those guys have a lot of miles on them. They've won everything there is to win.

You guys have a choice: You can ride them as long as they are under contract and likely wind up like Vancouver and the Sedins the last few years, or you can look to the present and future and realize that sometimes, the party's over and you have to make really hard decisions

Keith, still pretty good until he play's on the PP, shouldn't be there.
Seabs, doesn't touch a puck that he's allergic to, probably our worst D man
Murphy, OK needs to grow into the team, it takes awhile except for the truly
great ones.
Rutta, pleasant surprise, keep him on the right side please.
Kempny, not sure if sitting him is playing games with his head, he just needs to play
period.
Franson, as a 6/7 no problem.
Forsling, show's flasjhes of oh ya, then moments of oh no, could be the coaching.

Structure sure seems to be lacking and switching sides, sitting games and having
no consistency is on the coaches plain and simple, as you said what happened to the
fast up ice tempo, we reverted back to D to D instead of north south, with the 5 on
3 pp yesterday being the perfect example.

For me Q has to go, but thanks for all the memories, one of the best coaches of many that Chicago has been blessed with. Same w/Stan and McD, I trust none of
them in a rebuild.

How much of that is due to Philly sitting back after taking the lead?

I still see this more as a forward problem than a D-men problem. Not saying the D is great shakes but adequate. Forwards always seem to be out of position, late coming back D-men get the puck and have nowhere to go with it. When the forwards do get the puck they turn it over or are knocked off it way to easy. Seems like some big time communication problems, nobody seems to know what to do with the puck when they get it or where there supposed to be/go if they’re not the puck carrier.

when you've just killed a 5-on 3 for 2 minutes you don't sit on the lead
you let the Hawks do the work for you.

Albeit Panik and Saad played well just couldn't finish.

Still coming out flat game after game is sending me a message.

That's the biggest issue I've seen so far. Will they turn it around? I guess we'll see.
