He is trying to make Elliot #1. Nuevy played well the game in ST Louis, so he rode the hot hand. To no avail. I knew Elliot would play this game by the end of the Avs game.

Maybe. But from Bill's post it sounded like Neuvirth wasn't feeling so great and if that's the case then Elliott would be the better choice.

The question for me is are they comfortable heading into next year with the same two goalies?

agree they are good from a patient approach standpoint but they could really use Kane, he would instantly be the sniper of the team, plays physical and with an edge, most stuff they dont have.

not saying they dont have a lot, they do but someone is going to get Kane, rather it be the Flyers

Concussions are an odd thing. You can't plan an easy timetable for them like you can for say a shoulder or hernia. I'd say this isn't of the realm the Flyers should have expected from Patrick when they picked him. He didn't have a concussion history that I know of so. This is just the team being safe.
- dragonoffrost

I'm not sure how having your head slammed against the glass is just another indication that a player is injury prone. That can happen to any player.

Regarding Patrick? Pretty safe to say he is injury prone. Hopefully that changes as his career goes on. For a guy who isn’t a speedster to begin with, little worrisome.

Hope he rebounds and has a nice dominant career.

It's not safe to say. He's had a groin injury that wasn't treated properly and had his head slammed against the glass and received a concussion. The latter has zero to do with being injury prone and can happen to any player.

that's exactly right, but he HAD to give Neuvirth that Avs game. and i was pretty certain he would Nitty it, which is what he did.

Well, 10-0-0 would be better.

But, if they can keep up a pace where they pick up 12 points for every 10 games, I can live with that. That would put them on track to finish with 94 points which might be enough to get them in this year.

- BiggE

That would put them right on the edge, maybe a little short. I'm hoping for 16 points this month. They have 3 in 3 so far. They do need to pick up the points pace though. Six points in the last 7 games won't get it done. It's all about points doesn't matter how pretty or ugly it is in the getting.

comfortable? at this stage, i would say no. of course that feeling could change. i venture to guess that if they remain uncomfortable by season's end, the only way that changes is in training camp with the goalies already in the system.

The key to this game will be solving Crawford early. If we fall behind it will be tough as the Crow is clearly at the top of his game. Wish Elliot was playing, Flyers do not score when Neuvy in net, at least not normally

I would do a three way with a team in the west. Washington will not trade Samsonov to the Flyers but if Hextall can get a team out west to do the dirty work that would solve the goalie problem for the next decade. Holtby only has two years left and by that time Samsonov may take over at a much more reasonable salary for three years, lol

i'd be surprised if they went after a potential long term #1 before hart/sandstrom/stolarz/lyon get a legit shot...but who knows?

Flyers have a ton of quality goaltending prospects. They should not be trading top assets to acquire another.

Uhhh...Hart? Sandstrom?

We don't need a goalie for a decade we need one for 3-5 seasons

I hope that one of them will be gone, but I don't really see many ways for that to happen right now.

So on saturday Neuvirth went against Varlamov. Both goalies were in the Caps system along with Holtby. So Washington had 3 starter level (ish) goalies in their system and only 1 stuck with the team. It is becoming pretty obvious the same thing will happen with the Flyers, they just need to make sure they pick the right guy.

i still think of him as a "young" player. Age wise I guess so, but wow, he is a 7 year vet at the age of 24.
