Sam actually looked pretty good last game.... I agree get him bailey and baptiste / e-rod and see what happens....
- gordong

Something like that at least
Ideally,
I’d actually move Kane & Okposo down with Sam

Kane has been productive with just about anyone he’s played with while he’s here

And Girgs looked good in a few games with Jack & Pommer earlier, so there’s his replacement

Pouliot stays with O’Reilly, bc he wasn’t doing crap on line 3 but looks good with ROR
Bailey also has looked good with O’Reilly & Okposo has struggled,
so move Kyle down with Kane & Sam

That should give us 3 lines that can score fairly consistently

Just remember he can use a loophole just like stupid cal did

College players have all the power do you think NHL teams want to (frank) around and wait for them ?
Especially high draft choices

I'm not saying this is going to happen to very doubtful that he's going to put up an act like that but if he progresses like he is this year it's likely NHL for him

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Cal had a loophole bc he played a year in the USHL after he was drafted, before college

Mittelstadt would have to play college for 3 more years & graduate if he wanted to try & do that

U really think he’d say,
No, I’m cool... not gonna risk playing in the AHL for a year, maybe
I’d rather stay in college for THREE more years,
and not get paid while I’m here

I don’t

He will likely sign after this season
And the Sabres will tell him he’ll get a LEGIT shot at making the team,
but it won’t be guaranteed & he could very well end up in Rochester

Judging by what J Botts keeps saying...
seems likely he will spend time in the AHL
Just like he’s doing with other youngsters

Out of the teams that Ek lists as potential trade partners for Kane (MTL, NYR, NYI, LAS, and LAK), what is the most realistic return from each?

I'm not saying I want Kane traded, but curious who the ideal/realistic targets would be.

I think Kane's value is hard to determine due to his strong performances in contract years and then having mediocre seasons in between.

It is about the time we should be tracking Kane’s December to December performance....without doing the race checking, in this mid Nov day he is at roughly right 35-37 goals...could we see him kick in another 10 or 15 to get to that magical 50 marker?
Asking a ton I know...but he’s sitting at 9 now one month in...15 in 1-2/3 months is not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Sure I'd like to keep him too (amazing, I know), but for 7-7.5 mil? No way in hell.

For a 3-4 year deal, yeah that could be ok, 5-8 years? No way.

He's good, but not great, and we've already ponied up for a bunch of players who are in the "good" category, and clearly need to keep room for another great one

- sbroads24

Just to play devil's advocate here, because i think this particular way of looking at it gets overlooked.

When talking about Kane, say he does make 7.5 x 7 - The Sabres don't need to find $7.5m in cap space, they need to find the difference between his current salary and his new salary, which in this case would be $2m. That's still a lot of money, but when you look at it like this, when you're already paying $5.5m, it's a lot easier to swallow.

Point being, the Sabres can easily keep Kane if they want. Trade Girgs and you just paid for Kane's raise
