That's what I like to hear.

Those contracts are almost certainly Moulson and Gorges.

but he never was really a point scorer before the ahl, nor in the ahl

Gaudreau lapped him in the ushl

darcy was in panic mode instead of drafting the best player with the first rd picks, just like when he took 2 d men the year after

- homiedclown

Hey, I'm not saying he would have been an all-star, but he could have been a 15-20 goal, J.P Dumont type of player, best case scenario.

Agreed, after hearing gmjb talk about spending time in the ahl... he probably will at least spend some time there.

He does seem to be a major piece on his team though and almost every game he’s been a major factor, that great news for us going forward. I’m looking forward to see if he progresses as the year goes on or wears out...that will tell a lot about his future.

- gordong

If we trade Kane,
then maybe Nylander replaces him next year

Then the following year,
It’s possible Mittelstadt replaces Pominville

I remember getting ripped on here when I said he’d never score 20 goals
His ceiling (imo) was always gonna be 3rd line, shut down Center type player

- jdfitz77

not a bad thing if you look at the player, not where drafted

if darcy took ceci instead of gus and mantha or burakovsky instead of zads.........

The problem is once he signs a contract he's no longer NCAA eligible.

Girgenson is capable of playing on the dot or the wing

this is now his 4th coach during his tenure as a sabre, on a team that has not come close to making the playoffs

he practices with nhl players, he has had 289 nhl games to learn from the opposition who is normally better than our team

the fact he is not a top 6 player at this point in his career is more a case of lack of talent, not a situation of being rushed to the nhl

you are who you are, and 289 games is more than enough of a sample to prove this

they all can't be ovis, stamkos or jacks

some of them are more like paille no matter what round they are drafted in

- homiedclown

That and the fact that he was drafted not to be a high-end offensive guy, but a good two-way guy, who was drafted too high.

Whoa, is he really shopping Lehner or is it Johnson?

Winger. Hmm. Moulson... Okposo... Kane... No way is he shopping Pommers and Larsson and Pouliot aren't exactly 'bad' contracts.

I'm stumped. And I knew Bogo was gonna get time with Housley, I still think if he can just get ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶c̶a̶i̶n̶e̶ healthy he'd be a solid bottom-3 guy.

he also said kids will get every chance to earn a roster spot in training camp

if they are not ready to log meaningful minutes they will be sent down

That just sounds like something GMs have to say
Otherwise,
how do u explain Guhle in the AHL & guys like Tennyson & Redmond playing games up here?

Seems pretty clear to me that J Botts feels time in the AHL is a necessary step in development

my guess is he never expected guhle to play over mccabe or scandella this year

24 minutes in rochester is better than 12 in the nhl

I'm still pissed at Darcy for trading him and to of all places, Dallas.

I remember watching the news that night. Idk, I was like 16 and he was my favorite player at the time.

He was barely keeping it together during the interview. Me too. ; _ ;

who said anything about him being jack ? i think he is more comparable to tyler seguin
- gerbe75pts

You did.

You said he was going to put up 80 points. Jack "only" put up 71 in his freshman year.

Yeah he's not going to sign to play in the AHL so NHL or college and you don't lie to players it will build a bad relationship

I was still fine with the pick
Defensive Centers are an important part to a winning team
Girgensons could still be that guy imo
At the time,
I was saying if trade him for O’Reilly
This was right after Girgensons was drafted

My problem wasn’t that Girgs was gonna be a bad player, just that O’Reilly would’ve been an upgrade

Many on here ripped me for saying it would be ok to trade our future Captain

What’s that have to do with anything?
I never said trade Pommer

I said Mittelstadt could potentially replace him on Jack’s line in 2yrs when Pommer’s contract is up
Even if he’s re-signed, I highly doubt Pommer is still playing on the Jack’s wing at that point

There’s no such thing
Once u sign a contract, u lose your NCAA eligibility

So the choice is then, NHL or Minors

Teams absolutely DO NOT guarantee a kid that just finished his Freshman year a roster spot

We all knew he’d make the team,
but even Jack didn’t get the “guarantee”

And Casey Mittelstadt is NOT on Jack’s level

Ps.
You’re also nuts to predict 80pts for him this year when Jack only got 71pts as a freshman
And Gudreau as a Junior is a poor counter to that

I think he signs his ELC after his season ends, provided he continues the way he's playing, and he plays in games at the end of this season. But after that he has to earn his spot. If he doesn't he's in the AHL.

Yes, since what Jack did hadn't been done in 20 years. You're saying not only is he going to do that, but surpass it.
