I agree. I honestly think it killed Girgenson's career.

The AHL is full of bitter, ornery head-hunting grinders and scrubs who are furious they aren't good enough to have played in the NHL full-time. And they absolutely head-hunt younger guys.

- BeadyEyedDouche

Plenty of guys play in the AHL & move on to successful NHL careers

Guhle was not his pick just saying ...

and if you look at all the interviews with mittelstaedt he indicates he's done after this year

- gerbe75pts

guhle is more likely to be here long term than risto

So what if it was or wasn’t his pick
J Botts has said over & over that he wants the kids to develop in the minors

Just bc YOU don’t like it,
doesn’t mean that’s how the Sabres will act

And of course Mittelstadt is gonna talk like he expects to make the Sabres next year...
don’t all good prospects do that though?
They all say something generic like...
Yeah, my goal is to make the NHL. I’ve gotta keep working on my game, but I think can contribute, etc etc”

- jdfitz77

Interviews about him being one done he already indicated he's going to be done after this year..

I don't see him in the Minors IMO players like him are going to be in the NHL or back to college he's basically in a system that makes him more ready for NHL

You’d think his ppg will go up as the season goes on
Not 80 though
This kid isn’t Jack

- jdfitz77

He not but he sure does skate and stick handle like him...I’d be overjoyed if he got 50 points this year...

Girgenson is capable of playing on the dot or the wing

this is now his 4th coach during his tenure as a sabre, on a team that has not come close to making the playoffs

he practices with nhl players, he has had 289 nhl games to learn from the opposition who is normally better than our team

the fact he is not a top 6 player at this point in his career is more a case of lack of talent, not a situation of being rushed to the nhl

you are who you are, and 289 games is more than enough of a sample to prove this

they all can't be ovis, stamkos or jacks

some of them are more like paille no matter what round they are drafted in

Agreed, after hearing gmjb talk about spending time in the ahl... he probably will at least spend some time there.

He does seem to be a major piece on his team though and almost every game he’s been a major factor, that great news for us going forward. I’m looking forward to see if he progresses as the year goes on or wears out...that will tell a lot about his future.

He got absolutely lambasted in his first season in the AHL, missed significant time with a severe concussion, IIRC.

There is no way he's going to be in the AHL I will be shocked

He's not going to leave college after his first year to play in a poopty development league he's going to be like keller this year

Homie may be misinterpreting me.

I don't think rushing him stunted his growth.

I think him playing in the AHL and getting lit the (frank) up and having post-concussion syndrome stunted his growth.

I remember getting ripped on here when I said he’d never score 20 goals
His ceiling (imo) was always gonna be 3rd line, shut down Center type player

but he never was really a point scorer before the ahl, nor in the ahl

Gaudreau lapped him in the ushl

darcy was in panic mode instead of drafting the best player with the first rd picks, just like when he took 2 d men the year after
