How long have people, haters and fans of this team, complained about them treading water? This is a better team now.

It was a lot to give up, but I think it's a move that had to be made.

I wish turris the best of luck in Nashville, I may even buy tickets to teh game they come to Ottawa later this season.

So, to look at the positives, and to stay on topic, do you put Duchene with Stone, or leave Stone with Brassard where he's been doing so well?

Kind of reminds me of the Bobby Ryan deal. The Sens gave up lots then as well. I don't think any of the picks/prospects ever amounted to anything. Slifverberg did alright as long as he is with Kesler, other than that, I think Ottawa did great on that deal.

Only time will tell if this deal works out the same way. I am excited to see Bobby Ryan with Duchene. Two of my favorite players playing with the best player in the game Karlsson is going to be fun to watch.

A 1st,3rd and a prospect can get you a lot more at the deadline.

Turris + a Shattenkirk>Duchene

Could even of traded for Neal with that.

Bad trade

The original ask was Chabot, White, and a 1st. Don't get me wrong, Ottawa gave up a lot but the fact that they kept their current high end prospects is huge.

Super pumped to have Duchene in the lineup. Will miss Turris but they definitely upgraded. I hope fans don't start ripping on him. He was a great Senator and gave this city some incredible moments.

Leave Stone and Brass alone. Duch and Hoff could be real good. Interesting to see where Ryan slots in why he returns.

I think Duch will be great on the PP. Much more creative than Turris.

Am I the only one thinking about a line of:
Hoffman-Duchene-Dzingel?

That's a lot of speed. It would be a hard line to keep up with. And it also leaves the Ryan-Brass-Stone line in tact. That's a pretty good top 6, and has Smith back on Pageau's wing where he belongs, and has been most successful. I guess DiDomenico on the right side.

To recap:
Hoffman Duchene Dzingel
Ryan Brassard Stone
Smith Pageau DiDomenico
Burrows Thompson Pyatt

Hoffman-Duchene-Ryan is also a sexy idea.

yup.
Of course now all sens fans will say Turris was meh.
Unless the Sens sign duchene long term, they got hosed on this deal.
Even if he signs long term, that may be the case. Turris, a 1st, a 3rd and last years 1st.
Ouch.

Dude, you're not reading. There are enough Sens fans who think we lost the trade, now try and read before you keep being a little troll. You're too old for that now.

Yeah that looks pretty good, I liked the fact that we had 3 functioning lines though. I only like the Pageau line if we get an upgrade over DiDomenico there at TDL.

I like the top 6, but I am not sure about the bottom 6. Would be interesting to see if the Sens would have interest in acquiring UFAs like Nash, Neal, E. Kane, etc on a rental basis closer to the deadline. Maybe even bringing in a depth d-man. I don’t think Dorion is finished making moves.

While I think Chabot’s fate is intact here in Ottawa after the Duchene fiasco, guys like White and Brown can still be used as bargaining chips.

I’m excited for the remainder of this season.

I completely agree! And I remember a rumor about James Neal being connected to Ottawa a while back. Who knows how much water it held. I'm just not sure I wanna give up many more pieces for a rental.

buy-out Phaneuf before 19/20. 2 season left on his contract. Or move him to a cap team.

Lol and please don't come with the "hammond is very good crap". you never see him play.

- DutchSenators

Yes you could do that with Phaneuf for sure! Agree ..and never claimed to have seen Hammond play!..just when he was included in the deal someone(media) posted his numbers! And most of them came I guess when he did that remarkable run with the sens!they looked pretty good to me..that's all!. If you care to franking read.and not get so salty in what I said! .I asked questions about the traded players and didn't franking troll..I've posted in here a couple of years and never trolled. .on the contrary I've been supportive of the sens and have mentioned that the trolls should. .well bugger off!..I gave congratulations to the team for last year's playoffs. .in which the beginning of the year (last) said in was a playoff team!..including this year. .and went so far as to saying if Karlsson was healthy they probably beat the pens..IMHO. .Maybe your franking attitude is cause for the trolling? tho I seriously doubt that! ..obviously with your reaction you could use a snickers? ..and ya to the actual trolls ..please..let's talk about hockey. For frank sakes! whether you like the trade or not can be debated. .but it should be explained by why or why not?..then we can hopefully continue to discuss later on about the effects it had next year? And I'm mention again! Hopefully duchene works well and is the number 1 center your team (fans) have been wanting ..frank me I need a franking snickers!

Except in this case......they kind of are....I love turris and it sucks losing him...but seems kind of clear he wasn't resigning ....plus the 1st rounder is top 10 protected...it's really not a bad deal for the Sens...I'm very happy with the trade...I'll miss turris but sens did good here..got Duchene and gave up exactly none of the top prospects...it's a win
- TheMike12

I guess Shane Bowers is a write off then

"Turris wanted too much term"

Yeah, Duchene isn't going to want term....

"Turris has been off lately"

Yeah, Duchene has been WAY off the last 2-3 years. Had 40 points last year.....

6x6 is fantastic value for Turris. Duchene will want more on the open market

- Santo_44

Exactly, you think Duchene is going to take 6M a year? He will know he can hit the market and get more than Melnyk is willing to commit. This is a lateral move at best and it's a huge failure if Duchene doesn't resign.

so it's either "top prospect" or "write off"...........just because a guy isn't a blue chip top prospect for an organization doesn't mean he isn't good.

most scouts/experts had bowers pegged as a 3rd liner when ottawa drafted him, and i haven't read anything to contradict that.

so not a write off, but certainly not someone you worry about trading away

Best part of Duchene's locker room interview today was him saying how excited he was to "dish the puck to Hoffman, that guy has one of the best shots in the league"

Funny, I remember a lot of us saying that not too long ago but we know nothing right? Guys who actually play in the league must also not have a (frank)ing clue who the elite shooters are I guess too....

I'm not sure why this is such a challenging concept for some people, but just because they didn't want to give Turris a $6M x 6yrs extension doesn't mean that they won't be willing to offer Duchene more than that.

Because they're the exact same player, haven't you heard?
