Bowers was a 1st in 2017 and is doing well in a solid Hockey East at the age of 18
Girard had a great QMJHL career and made NSH this season at the age of 19
Kamanev had 51 points in the AHL last season and has the makings of being a good middle 6 contributor

DET and COL have found a new way to reignite the rivalry

All I keep hearing is about how deep this draft is supposed to be. It may not be loaded with Generational talent, but it's supposed to be the deepest draft as far as all around quality in a very long time, so an extra 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be nice.

I think it's a deal that benefits all team. Ottawa paid A LOT in the way of picks/prospect - essentially paying 2 late 1st round picks and a 3rd. Having said that you allocate the $ in a younger and better center like Duchene AND keep your top 5 prospects; smart move by an aggresive GM

Turris was apparently asking for 6m+ over 7-8 years - but I think even a 6 year deal was something they were hesitant on. I really liked Turris and it's tough to see him go. At 6x6 I would have done the deal but again to get Duchene I think Hoffman and Stone now have a legit chance to shine with him. You also still have pieces to make another deal. No d-man given up, but hope Girard works out for some of the avs fans, he may be a steal in that draft

I am not entirely certain that Duschene is the best player in the deal. Clearly he is the most gifted offensive player. But, Turris is a very good defensive player and still kicked in 27 goals last year.

Dumb question, but what happens when a player is trade WHILE he's playing a game?

Sakic is the opposite GM as PC. Sakic cares more about the long term success of his franchise than his career as a GM. Peter Chiarelli is more worried about his immediate win-loss record as a GM than the long-term success of the franchises he influences.
