Shane Bowers was your 1st round pick last year, you gave up a 1st round pick this year and a 3rd rounder with Hammond (salary dump) to go from Turris to Duchene.

Nash did the heavy lifting wiht the deal with Girard but Ott did move a lot out too to really not upgrade, unless they feel like they got Duchene extension nailed down, its a bit of an odd move for them

I thought the 6x6 for Turris was a big win for Nashville especially considering that's what Lucic got a while back...

It sounds to me like Sakic got less than what he was looking for... much less.

I thought he wanted an NHL-ready young dman, a 1st and more and was offered that a while back. Who knows what's been true.

Its a lot of stuff, There is some nice pieces, nothing that says wow.

Its a futures gamble but they added a lot of bullets into the future gun

Isnt this this similar to the oreilly trade then?

ok, that's good then! Bowers a nobody, Hammond is trash, a 3rd is worth nothing and a 1st instead of giving up someone like White or another other of our better prospects!!

Colorado and Ottawa got hosed. Poile got the best of this.

The only good parts Colorado got is the Ottawa 1st.

Sakic failed here imo.

Is that what he's signing for?

Makes Ottawa look even dumber and I like Duchene.

Can any Sens fan explain why they wanted to move Turris or was it more the impending contract issues?

Girard has looked good in the games he's played this season. However, he also had the benefit of playing with Josi, Ekholm, and Subban.

Duchene for a lot of maybes. Bit of a swing for the fences for Sakic. Avs could be the big winners or the big losers of this trade looking back in a few years. Ottawa adding that many pieces to upgrade from Turris to Duchene (especially with a Turris extension at 6x6) seems very odd to me. Unless the 6x6 extension for Turris wasn't on the table in Ottawa.

Yeah, I was just more curious when they'll have all their guys healthy and also how this could shake things out at the deadline as far as players that might now become available.
- Rinosaur

I'd say:

1. Preds
2. Avs
3. Sens

Dorian overpaid for Burrows and now Duchene

I mean look, having an extra 1st, 2nd and 3rd in this specific draft is definitely good, but are these prospects supposed to have any real impact?

basically. They got 3 prospects and 3 picks for Duchene. If teams were going to give up that young Dmen it would have happened long time ago.

They went futures, cant really say how this will turn out bc now fan base will have to wait years to see what impact this has on the team down the line

I'd agree with that assessment at this point. Avs need to wait quite a while to find out what they actually get.

I am ok with it, Girard was one of the Dmen I was hoping for. Not the Chabot or Fabbro, but Girard is still a nice D prospect. He tore up the Q as well

Trading proven players for question marks. Sakic is a funny guy.
