I gotta give it to Sakic. He didn't get a defenseman, but he got a solid prospect and 2 1sts to try and get one.

But Kyle Turris for a 1st? That's a bit steep especially when he's a UFA. If we can get more than that for Kane I'd be ecstatic. I don't want to lose him, but if they can get a 1st and a defensive prospect, I'm not talking Theodore level, but a solid guy. I'd do that, and hope to lure Kane back in the summer.

You know Colin White wasn’t included. That was a fake Dreger

I like it for Colorado too.

Girard is who I had in mind for Sam. There’s 0 reason we shouldn’t be exploring a trade like this

Sounds like Turris is signing an extension. even if he didn't hes worth that as a rental. basically played at the same level as duchene
- Sabresfan-365

And now with #RealNews it's way more than a 1st. I mean they're replacing Neal's production basically, but I wouldn't do that deal. Sure they have about 34 defensemen they can trade away, but it's still a 2nd, a (very)young NHL ready D-Man and Kamenev looks to be a solid player in the making. That's a lot for a 2C.

A really good 2c. we did something similar for ours and people talked about it like the greatest trade deal in the history of trade deals

yeah i dont disagree they got a good haul. It's worth exploring but if duchene gets that its hard to imagine sam getting something like that

finishing? they have trouble even getting into a position to do that. The breakouts have been getting worse as the year has gone on. fewer attempted controlled exits from the first week or so.
- Sabresfan-365

the sabres and the stars both had seven shots on goal through 10:27 of period-1...the difference in the game is that dallas scored on three of those shots...and none of the goals had anything to do with controlled zone exits by the sabres

pretty sure Housley was coddled by bowman and going by their underachieving record under him, it seems as if a lot of those Sabres were also coddled at the time
- Michael Pachla

I highly doubt that Bowman "coddled" any player he has coached. When I was in high school I read the book "The Game" and Ken Dryden wrote how Bowman didn't coddle any of the great Candadians players such as Larry Robinson, Serge Savard and Yvan Cournoyer and I doubt he coddled any Sabres player.

Now perhaps after leaving Montreal he toned down his intensity but I doubt it. In fact recall he traded players such as Jerry "King Kong" Korab that allowed Buffalo to draft Housley. Jimmy Schoenfeld and Danny Gare would be traded as well under Bowman. And my all time favorite player and reason I started playing goal Donnie Edwards was also traded for not performing.

So my point being that Scotty didn't have favorites.

yes, it had to do with how easily they gave up the line, controlled entries against.

I'd take ROR everyday over Turris, not even close. A guy who starts 55% in the D-zone that still put up 115 points in 2 years on a poop Sabres team. Turris is 59.6% O-zone this year ROR is 38% and ROR has 12 points in 14 games and Turris has 9 in 11.

Edit: Turris only has 5 to ROR's 8 EV points.

Housley was so bad at defense that he played a big chunk of his games in buffalo as a forward

that's what you wrote...don't see anything about the opposition exits and entrances...

fact is, during the first 10 plus minutes of the dallas game, the sabres were in control of the puck seemingly much more often than the stars...and that included breakouts...three mistakes lead to dallas goals and none of them had to do with the Sabres either being unable to get out of their zone or with passing

right, it had to do with their inability to keep the opposition from gaining the line with such ease. i didnt make that point as a counter or to prove myself right it was a separate point altogether

42 EV goals to 31 for Kane in interestingly the same amount of games, 135. CF% rel Kane 6.7 and .9, Turris 4.4 and 0.0.

Edit: Turris also starts more in the O-zone.
