You won't be sitting much because all the cheering you'll be doing from all the WINS we put together.

Wtf is wrong with the Nucks thread?

I'm guessing the thread was shutdown pre-emptively to avoid any potential hurt feelings.

Somebody stepped on an egg-shell in there so now their thread will be cancelled for the rest of the season.

They'll come down to earth and probably finish around .500, missing the playoffs by 4 or 5 points. .. finishing in the absolute worst possible spot. But with this new draft lotto.. there's always a chance lol. But maybe Zajac, Palmieri, Johansson back in the lineup, and the defense continuing to improve, .. maybe they'll have a dip in November-December and have a strong 2nd half of the season. We'll see.

I think some of us are overlooking the value of Zajac to this team. He's not inept offensively, while being able to win more faceoffs than losing, and be above average defensively.. plus whatever leadership he'll bring. Getting Palmieri back will be another improvement over guys like Hayes getting more minutes.

The question is what we're going to do when guys come off the IR. Buyout Lovejoy? Trade Prout? Send down Noesen and hope he clears waivers?

To be honest, it's not a huge loss.

I'm not sure. Our Mods have grown tired of our antics or it's just a simple glitch.

I'm hoping the Mods closed it down because that will drive the drama into a fever pitch.

Haha, I suppose the internet doesn't need another platform for people to manufacture bullpoop outrage out of thin air.

The Oiler's thread is a safe space from the toxic spread of safe spaces.

There is no rule that states you need to outshoot our out chance your opponent in order to win. In those cases we didn't, just means how efficient we are.

I'm sure the oiler's thread is one of the 9 circles of hell.

I'm just not sure which one.

I 100% agree about Zajac, and I think when he's back he'll have the perfect role: shutdown other teams top players and don't worry so much about being one of the top scorers on the team. Even if the Devils end up finishing in the dreaded "just missed the playoffs" spot, I think the season will be a success. I'm a big believer that when a team loses and loses with great young players, it doesn't help their confidence / development. Look at what happened with Edmonton, before they lucked into McDavid it didn't matter how many top picks they got, they were always terrible. Even if the Devils end up missing, I'll take the exciting hockey and staying in the hunt most of the season over being out of it and sad by January every day of the week.

You're drawing wrong conclusions from made up stuff. Pittsburgh's core lost a lot and then didn't. It's based on bad coaching staff/management that turns young players into bad players.

If there was a book on how to develop hockey players, it's being rewritten every year, along with how to draft, and how to put together a winning team.

Hockey philosophies are a stock market... hard to find constancy in any one philosophy right now. Pittsburgh won the last cup with average defensemen, something you basically never see... but teams that win seem to make their own rules sometimes.

The Penguins made the playoffs Crosby's second season (Malkin's first) so I don't think that's a great example. The Blackhawks missed the playoffs by a few Kane/Towes' first season and went to the Conference Final their second. I'm talking about in Edmonton where great young players lose and lose and lose every year, but no doubt poor management plays a role there (and Colorado).

Either way this isn't the forward group of a tanking/last place team. Obviously another high draft pick, and specifically Dahlin, would be awesome but especially with the draft lottery being how it is where you can finish last and pick fourth I'd rather see the team be competitive with the young guys contributing a lot, even if they end up missing the playoffs by a few points. It's also more fun.
