Ok, just so I'm clear, you do acknowledge that he did in fact show up over weight?
- gcomella34

Yes. I'm just saying it's likely more than just one thing. And to boil it down to just food is ridiculous.

If you retract this and issue a public apology by 6:00 pm EST all can be forgiven.

Otherwise, well you'll just see.....

I don't even know how to respond.

Caloric surplus typically leads to weight gain, most calories are consumed in food. Again, Kelvin Benjamin has admitted this is the problem.

I realize we're all post-moderns now, but could you please explain what other cause to his weight gain would be? I know plenty of people that have lost loved ones, but didn't gain weight because of the death, it was because of the excess food they ate.

Lack of exercise and failure to train caused by distraction.

You're also directly linking excess weight to decrease in performance when we've shown 2 other reasons as to why his numbers don't match his rookie year.

It's not just one reason his numbers are down. It's many. Yes, even years after a knee injury of that magnitude it could be affecting him. Even in daily life you wonder if your knee might give out when you're walking down the stairs. You will never be 100% even with the best doctors and PTs one can have. Tiger Woods never came back after his knee surgery before his back came into it and before "the incident". My tibia was drilled into 7 years ago to remove hardware from the last time they fixed my ACL and I can still touch and feel exactly where it was drilled. And even years later it still shows up in the bone on an MRI as "post surgical changes".

Yes, he was heavier than they would have liked, but other players have had success being heavier than they should have been. A totally healed knee can and will affect him the rest of his life. And having a parent die when you're at a young age is terrible, another thing I can personally attest to that might affect your game. A combination of all of those things is likely the reason for his drop off in play, and even his weight gain.

Juts to clarify things here, he weighed in for OTAs at 260+, which is when the fat KB photo went viral. He came to camp at 243, with his target playing weight supposedly being 245. Apparently, his college weight was 234, and I don't think it's abnormal to see that rise once in the NFL.

Btw, he still needs to pass the physical to finalize the trade. Not a given, considering his knee.

Again, this just proves Gerbe's point. It doesn't matter why, he showed up out of shape.

I hope for him that he turns it around in Buffalo, but until he proves it, he has to show it.

- gcomella34

People deal with grief in different ways.

Not saying that’s why he was out of shape. Just saying a parent passing away isn’t something easy to just shake the off.

And Jrs just butt hurt about a “top 10 rb” getting moved for a 4th.........

Maybe Ajayi was a cancer in the locker room and Miami needed to change the culture? lol:

He's a good running back, better than those bashing him, but not as good as Gerbe is saying. Surprise, surprise. Even in his "bad" games he's still ~1,000 yard rusher, adding in his good games and he's probably a 1,200-1,300 yard guy. Easily worth a 4th.

2017 ajayi averaging 3.4 yards per carry

aside from the 3 200 yard games, he had 650 yards in the other 13 games

he goes as the o line goes

side note bell is averaging 1 less yard per carry with the steelers as he did last year

As do the majority of the RBs in the league.

McCoy wasn't running well until Glenn came back and now all of a sudden he's an all-pro again.
