Hopefully Stanley will be a Jet in 2018-19 or 2019-2020. It's not as if many 1st rounders from his draft year are in the NHL.

Benny. I'm not so sure about Stanley. Certainly no chance next year. He looks like a major project. I guess time will tell.

They really, really don’t. Trouba was 19, Morrissey 20/21, Myers 19/20 (only Stanley comparable to play more than 100 NHL games), Kulikov 19/20, Byfuglien 22 (drafted for size, bloomed late after being force fed minutes with Enstrom), and and Enstrom 22 (stayed over seas until he was already a top pairing dman). You could argue Chiarot and Poolman, but one has never been an nhl player and the other stayed in college. Even just using the Jets roster, Stanley looks like a bust.

The "bust" attachment Jets fans often attach to Stanley is crazy, some players take longer than others to develop, not enough time has passed to make that statement.

There isn't a single D-man taken after Stanley in his draft class to have played more than 15 NHL games yet - we should allow him time to develop before writing him off, the guy turned 19 years old in May.

Poolman is 24 and is just now starting his NHL career, I get that Poolman was drafted in a later round so expectations were lower, but I think Jets fans would be more content if they let go of early round expectations placed on Stanley started considering him a part of our distant future.

if he does not make the team by 21. then you can call him a bust. Until then I'm optimistic

Chevy drafted Stanley knowing full well he might take a bit of extra time to mature. Stanley has done Ok this year in Kitchener with 10 pts in 13 games. Some other Jets prospects off to good starts are Jordy Stallard with 23 pts in 13 games and Skyler McKenzie with 19 pts in 13 games. Vesalainen is having an OK season as well with HPK(LIGA).

Scheifele’s issue, as is the case with Trouba, Morrissey, Ehlers, and now Connor, was size. He had the talent, but wasn’t big enough yet. Unlike Stanley, he was an elite player in junior, just like every other first rounder in the organization... excluding Stanley, whom was Windsor’s #4.

Good point about Scheifs, took a bit time to round out but the wait was worth it.

I hope they send Poolman down to the farm, not because of his play, but because he is not playing. He needs to play and with the 6 D performing well, then Chairot and Poolman sit. I guess that is a good problem to have considering the cupbaord was pretty bare a few short years ago.

I am quite impressed with Helle so far this year. Yes, it is early in the season and the sample is small but there is a degree of confidence in the way he is playing the position. Perhaps a stint in Kelowna with Dubyk, aging, and having another goalie pushing him has helped. Helle looks very confident, seems to be in the right position, square to the shooter etc but the confidence aspect seems noticeable. Good to get on a roll, and quite the roll. Confidence is contagious and a lack of it is a killer.

And, Mason looked good last time out as well, even though still looking for that first win.
