According to Brooks

He said that Ruff would make sense on an "interim" basis but that the next permanent coach of the Rangers would have to be strong in "teaching, developing, communicating with and empowering young players. That's the future of this league. "

- KreiderBomb

I agree with Brook's on Ruff, and is why I mentioned earlier that prior to depleting the future in any means through a big trade(s) to make a hunt for likely a ONE playoff round appearance (as a 2nd Wild Card at best as of now), the only move immediately for Gorton, who's deservedly of blame as well, is for the entire coaching staff behind the game bench to be replaced. But that's unless Lindy Ruff only appears lost here due to A.V. & Arniel being so, in having lost their team as of now, for which Lindy would then be given his chance at the helm, with not much lower to go in the hunt but up instead.
If still in realistic playoff contention come December, Gorton could then pursue a noteworthy trade or more, without risking any of the future being dealt. But, if out of realistic Wild Card contention by December 1st, or at the latest as of their New Years Day outdoor match against Buffalo, the sell off must then begin either under Ruff if definitely being retained should the team play well, or under another new coach to TOTALLY REBUILD this team around, with the exception of our current future up here now, along with a few others, plus our top prospects and picks not being dealt. If that means a Zucc, Nash, or the like being dealt, so be it.

Great post, Saver. You and Burton are the the best duo ever in Jan's blog
- 21peter

Why was it a "great post" to you, Peter? Since this time, I mostly backed up your brother in Pavelec?

You can take the for sale sign down. I own the space.

I thought the case was still in court proceedings in NJ between you, "Tomburton", and "Vinny Kreiderbomb", with, (when he wants to be, the Honorable), "21Peter" as the Judge.

With Chicago at 5-5-2 currently, some there are already calling unbelievably for Quenneville to be axed for real. If that really were for real, we could then maybe exchange coaches, (sort of like it ended up being with Torts for A.V.), and thereafter also become trade partners to suit each others' player needs, if possible for two high capped teams.
Or, only if under some other new direction here first, then we can at least become a trade partner with them, as well as possibly with Edmonton, &/or others.

Let's find 3 teams that think they are on the cusp or in win now mode and send them each a full forward line and a D pair.

Skjei, Buch, Chytil, Andersson, and Nieves are the new core...surrounded by a bunch of AHLers waiting on the 1st round picks to come flooding in

I would add up front, current roster players in Zibby, Miller, Hayes, Fast, Vesey, and Kreider (if not dealt, I hope). On the back line, I agree in that Skjei at 23 is a must to retain. He must be extended years wise soon, in being their only top & young established, proven NHL d'man, with lengthy top pairing potential under age 28. Despite being an RFA after this season, he cannot be used in part to acquire a Duchene, or anyone else, all to just make a run at a playoff spot now.
Parting with Skjei would likely end up equivalently bad as when they traded Zubov, and will set this franchise back for years as well. That would then also necessitate the tougher need later to draft very high on defense, when the biggest issue here is not having that one NHL guaranteed, top 10 goal scorer and points producing player. I also agree that they have some additional future on both ends down in Hartford. They must retain as much of that as possible, in the event should a total rebuild become the new plan.

Las Vegas shows it... if you have players with heart.. They will win games. Doesn't have to be the most skilled bunch.
