I'm also taking age into consideration here as well obviously we'd have Matthews for a longer time. Sorry didn't add that before. - 668710
Oh, well, yeah. I dunno if it's fair to pick who you'd rather have under contract for so many years because of stuff like age. |

Something to consider here if we're taking age into consideration is Matthews upcoming contract. It wouldnt even fit under the Pens cap even with Geno's cap hit not there. |

Philbo looks like he enjoys a bit of 3 on 3 action. - Aussiepenguin
You mean 3 on 1, like a blond, a brunette, and a Ballpark? |

Easy there tough guy. Former season ticket holder who was following the Pens when you were still in short pants.
Malkin is declining rapidly. Either he can't do it consistently, or can't be bothered to. My reference was to his drop off that started years ago. Whichever way you want to see it through your rose colored glasses, he is not worth the cap hit.
For the 9.3 the Pens could even out the lines much better. - Peach
Malkin has a point per game this year and he's in decline? What a joke. And even the lines out? We have the best forward depth in the league except at 3C, are we going to trade our 2C(who is a 1C on any other team) for a 3C? I'll take his cap hit over Toews or Kopitar any day. Dumb dumb! |

What if we picked up Jason Garrison on waivers and then traded Maatta ++ for Duchene or Galch ?
Garrison is an obvious step down but hes a free pick-up that takes some of the sting out of losing Maatta.. |

Im very surprised hes on waivers.
He still has a canon shot.
To answer your question though, Id have a real hard time parting with Maatta and the way he's playing...but either of those 2 centres would make the team much better overall with Garrison taking Maatta's spot. Hmmm |

What is the ++? Because Maatta is nowhere near the value of those 2 Cs.
Garrison is relatively bad nowadays too. |

Garrison is horrible. His last few years in Tampa were absolutely brutal. |

Garrison is not good, I don't think it would improve the Penguins that much. |

The ++ must be Larkin after we acquire him for Geno. Yea that's it. |

Well we had centers the last two years and now we don't have that depth at center. The last two years has been wingers coming up which we still have a few that we can afford to move a hags if needed. Archibald could fill his void if needed I think. But we have ZAR and too - 668710
A Hagelin trade is fine, I'm referring to the people who want to trade Malkin or Phil, thus major pieces. Hagelin is a bit of a luxury item: does some things very well bit probably not worth 4M. Especially when Sprong comes up and he's the team's 7th best wing. |
