This, for (frank)s sake, this! - BiggE
I just don't know what else Morin has to do to play. He's shown he's NHL-ready, was great throughout the bulk of the preseason, and is apparently dominating his game at the AHL level.
But no, the great Brandon Manning show must go on so that we can bask in his below-averageness. |

All true, but discussing it ad nauseam seems to be some kind of therapy, or at the very least, a frustration release mechanism for a lot of folks here. - Scoob
Manning hasn't been mentioned once this season on pizzabuzz.com. It could be the place for you |

if all are healthy I try
28 Claude Giroux - 14 Sean Couturier - 93 Jakub Voracek
40 Jordan Weal - 51 Valtteri Filppula - 17 Wayne Simmonds
24 Matt Read - 19 Nolan Patrick - 11 Travis Konecny
20 Taylor Leier or 22 - 21 Scott Laughton - 12 Michael Raffl
for the phantoms not sure I like Vorobyev on the 4th line. why not switch him with Knight?
lastly I guess its safe to say Fazleev is probably no longer in their plans for a potential NHL player |

Not normally a Carchidi fan but really liked his article about lindblom. Talked about his adjustment and struggles have been off the ice in a big way. Missing family friends only real friend in America was hagg and he's with the flyers. He just moved in to a house with vecchione and Brennan and apparently that's made a huge difference in making him feel like he belongs and has a home here. You forget sometimes these are kids thousands of miles from home.
Side bar vecchione on an absolute tear. Wonder if we do actually trade filp at some point if they move nolan and Laughton up and get vecchione 4th line time - Tfaehner
Yup, sometimes we have to remind ourselves that the players are people, not machines and many, like Lindblom, are barely adults, playing in a foreign country for the first time with no family, friends or even teammates who speak their native language around.
On the other topic, I'm glad that Vecchione is playing well, but I still don't think they move Filppula if they are in playoff contention. However Vecchione is off to a fine start in auditioning for that lineup spot in 18-19. |

Seriously who cares about the lineup decisions this year anymore? This team is still a bubble team. Not very exciting lately either. Looking more and more like last year's squad as the games progress. I hope they prove me wrong.
Main concern is the core. At the rate this organization is implementing its youth, Giroux and Voracek will be in wheelchairs. The same exact conversation is going to take place with Myers and co. next year. Same with Rubstov, Frost the year after that etc. That is the much bigger concern. |

In keeping with the usual quotient of Canadian politeness, Canadian Tires usually only have blow outs at a time most convenient for the driver.

The whole Morin debate really gets me aggrevated too when articles online and sports writers are saying Morin was a monster in last night's phantoms win. All over the ice looking like a stud. Meanwhile manning looks.... manning - Tfaehner
Exactly.
This isn't Weise vs Lehtera here. This is a player who has legitimate chance at excelling, but he's sitting in place of someone we know has zero chance of excelling |

If Read could still skate the way he did in his prime, sure. Sadly, he can't. Right now, with all healthy, I'd go with:
The usual top line
Weal-Filppula-Simmonds
Raffl-Patrick-Konecny
Leier-Laughton-Weise
Lehtera would be in the Cote suite and Read back on the bus. |

Frost Myers rubtsov and company don't really have a trajectory of being nhl ready next year. They'd have to make significant improvement this year. I think next year may be disappointing to some as right now I see vecchione lindblom morin and maybe vorobyov making the jump at most. Its also brtter for an impending expansion that those guys stay down and aren't rushed were already going to lose something we don't want to lose. |

I am not sure I even want Weise on the 4th line. he looked out of place there last game because he just didn't have the speed the rest of the line does. i think you keep Raffl - Laughton - Leier.
I like Lehtara's skill compared to Wiese and Read. I would be ok with this on the bottom 3 lines
Lehtara - Filppula - Simmonds
Weal - Patrick - Konecny
Raff- Laughton - Leier
I think Lehtara showed some chemistry with Filppula and Simmonds against Edmonton. Adding Weal to the patrick line gives some spped on the wings to a creative center.
Also is everyone still saying Giroux needs to be a center to be effective? The top line has been good every game. And Couturier is scoring. |

They need to change their philosophy. The Flyers view themselves as Keepers of the Holy Win and Do Things the Right Way. It's all fugazi.
They're not winning a cup this year. Implement the youth (that is ready!) and let them take their lumps.
And before some of you point out the youth that is already in the lineup, let me be clear that I realize this. But the Flyers still have one foot in that door and one foot out. Players like Morin that are clearly ready should be playing. End of story. |

One kid I would keep an eye on would be Allison. i think if he dominates at Western Michigan you could see hi leave early. Already has NHL size. He is someone I would keep an eye on. |

While it does concern me about their lineup decisions this year, its' only 9 games into an 82-game season. Let's see where we are at the 40-game mark.
The forwards are not too much of a concern to me right now, because other than Lindblom, and maybe Vecchione, there are not a lot of prospects banging on the door right now.

Yeah, goal will be issue until the kids come through. One name worth looking at for a possible off season trade would be Dubnyk in Minnesota. The Wild's core is old and they may be going into a rebuild mode soon. Dubnyk is signed to a reasonable contract and it only runs through 19-20. |

I'm figuring 18-19 or 19-20 at the latest. If Vegas grabs a playoff spot this year to go with the already great ticket sales they will call it a major win and want to do it again asap. They'll use the same format as well. Its highly likely we lose one our young d |

There is more to it than that. Perhaps they feel that Morin needs to still refine part of his game. I don't know. I want to see Morin in the lineup also as I think Manning has played poorly lately. Hakstol and Hextall are the experts here so I give them some leeway and benefit of the doubt here. Statements are made that Morin is tearing it up in the AHL. Did we forget that Manning was an all star at the AHL level? Who's to say that Morin wouldn't struggle in the NHL at this point? Then it becomes what is best for the players development. The evidence that I see points to the Flyers knowing what they're doing in developing young players.
