It's really hard to get a gauge on how the conversations behind close doors are going, but my gut is telling me the only reason Morin isn't with the Flyers has to do with comfort level in having 3 rookie D-man + Provy and Ghost in the lineup right now.
If that's the case, they should have brought up Sanheim, Hagg or Morin last season to get 20 games or so of experience. They may have the same issue next year with Myers and possibly Friedman. - VladDrag

Good point. - ggunky
I think the only reason he wasn't sent down right away had to do with the west coast trip and the potential injury to Ghost. |

People can question Hakstol's judgment all they want but an NHL coach not wanting to play 3 rookies on defense along with a 20 year old and another young defenseman in Gostisbehere is not poor judgment. You can still disagree with a decision while also understanding it. Disagreeing with a move or decision made by a GM or a coach does not automatically make it a bad one. Unless a team is a juggernaut playing lights out, and even then, there will always be issues that are not agreeable to everyone. |

Re Patrick:
If he passed all the protocols, felt fine when he woke up yesterday, felt and looked fine during practice and feels good when he wakes up this morning; why wouldn't they play him tonight?
I'm more curious as to the Flyers reasoning on why not give Morin a shot with AMac out for weeks and why break up the one good D pair, Hagg-Ghost, that you have right now? - BiggE
Put him on minutes restriction. No more than 6 minutes TOI for the res of the year. |

He hasn't had a strong season to this point but I expect him to rebound. - MJL
I hope so. It was just something I noticed. Watching games something just wasn't looking right.
Tonight i think I would like to see this:
Provorov - Sanheim
Hagg - Gostisbehere(he has made great strides on the defensive side)
Manning - Gudas(With the way both these guys have played they might need to be sheltered a little)
For me I think i just insert Morin. I think the Pro's out weigh the cons. I know they are a little hesitant on the starting this much youth on the back end but I think Morin could bring more good then bad.
Plus this team needs a little attitude. Last game, while everyone wasn't great, seemed to show team that lacked it's swagger. |

God I hope Simmonds can go. Not feeling a Matt Read showing tonight (or any night for that matter ). |

Flyers (10 points) are currently behind the Sens (12 points) despite the fact that the Flyers have a 5 win- 4 loss record compared to the Sens 4 win- 5 loss record.

I feel as though he is a slow starter usually. He chases the play too much. Handles the puck too long. Forces plays and takes bad penalties... then he slowly reverses.
I think (hope) he turns the corner soon. |

Gudas throughout his career has been inconsistent but when he's on he's a really solid top 4 defenseman. A time like now he's chasing contact, getting himself out of position and making bad plays. He has always gotten better when he goes through these slumps but it's not exactly a great time for him to be having hockey brain farts. |

The whole Morin debate really gets me aggrevated too when articles online and sports writers are saying Morin was a monster in last night's phantoms win. All over the ice looking like a stud. Meanwhile manning looks.... manning |

And if my Aunt had a set of nuts she'd be my uncle.
Obviously if the Flyers won more games they would have more points.
I was pointing out the fact that, despite the Flyers having won more games than the Sens in the same amount of games played, they currently trail them in points.

At this point Manning and Gudas are both probably the weakest links on the back end.
I think Gudas gets a pass sometimes because people like him compared to Manning. |

I think Gudas has been fine. A couple misplays but still doing positive things overall. Could he get luckier with scoring? Yeah. Could he play better? Yeah, he has. |

Not normally a Carchidi fan but really liked his article about lindblom. Talked about his adjustment and struggles have been off the ice in a big way. Missing family friends only real friend in America was hagg and he's with the flyers. He just moved in to a house with vecchione and Brennan and apparently that's made a huge difference in making him feel like he belongs and has a home here. You forget sometimes these are kids thousands of miles from home.
Side bar vecchione on an absolute tear. Wonder if we do actually trade filp at some point if they move nolan and Laughton up and get vecchione 4th line time |

Because the current set up is that teams get a point(s) for making it to overtime/shootout. |

They're sitting someone who is better than someone who is playing. That, to me, is poor judgement. Morin is better than Manning and I think the team would be better with Morin playing instead of Manning.
I fully understand why they think Morin shouldn't play. It just isn't a good reason. The rookies have over a full year of playing with each other as well, which is more time together than Manning-Sanheim. |

I think it's a possibility that Morin is better than Manning also but I'm not going to issue that as a fact as you seem willing to do. I also form that opinion with the understanding that they one have more knowledge than I do, and they also have more exposure to the player than I do. The reported reasons why they aren't willing to play Morin at this time is a good reason. I may not agree with it, but it is understandable. |

All true, but discussing it ad nauseam seems to be some kind of therapy, or at the very least, a frustration release mechanism for a lot of folks here. |
