I'm not expecting him to put up 70 points in 50 games like he did in the KHL, but I don't see how ~30-40 points as 3C is such a loft expectation. - j.boyd919
Using his KHL ppg over the past 3 seasons and Rob Vollmans .74 KHL to NHL translation factor he would score around .91 points per game in the NHL or around 75 points in an 82 game season. |

Now including his age to factor in some potential regression I think 55-65 would be more appropriate but still would be fringe 1C production, great 2C production, and elite 3C production. |

Dopita never produced at elite levels in a top tier euro league.
He also produced 0.45 ppg in his NHL career which is very good and meets expectations based on his euro numbers.
Hlavac again never produced at elite levels in a top tier euro league.
He also produced 0.51 ppg in his NHL career which is very good and meets expectations based on his euro numbers. |

Dopita was a consistent 50+ point scorer, had just gone 7 straight seasons of putting up more than a point per game, and was touted as "the best player in the world not in the NHL." To me, that makes him a damn fine producer.
Scoring 12 goals in 73 games (4 of the came in one game) and being out of the league 2 years later doesn't exactly jive with that moniker. But since you're right, please tell me what players in the Czech league were more "elite" producers over those 7 seasons than Dopita was. |

Janne Pesonen... That dude was even wearing the gold helmet in his Ieague...
Also, wasn't Plotinkov 2nd or 3rd in scoring behind Panarin? |

I'd take a 30-40 point 3C any day of the week. I wouldn't be surprised if Sheahan comes close to that. He just got a new lease on life with the Champs and Sullivan will get him busting his balls. |

He did it in the Czech league which is a lower quality than the AHL. FFS Tomas Nosek was a top 10 scorer in that league at one point. |

Jiri Dopita awards in the Czech league:
Golden Stick Award: 2001 (the highest trophy an ice hockey player can get in the Czech Republic)
Czech Extraliga - Regular Season MVP: 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000
Czech Extraliga - Play-Off MVP: 1994, 1996, 2001
Czech Extraliga - Leading Goal Scorer: 1997, 2000
German DEL - Leading Point Scorer: 1995
Yeah, he was just okay. Granted, the Czech league wasn't the Swedish Elite League, but he was as elite as you can get in that league. So yes, I would say that he was producing at an elite level in his league.
Edit: The last one was from the DEL, which even today isn't a great league. |

Plotnikov scored 0.63 ppg in the 3 seasons in the KHL before coming over.
Per the aforementioned translation factor that would be 0.47 NHL ppg or roughly 38 points in 82 games.
He struggled to get an NHL role and that was it for him.
He was never a top tier KHL player. |

That wasn't part of the criteria. The criteria was "a player produces at an elite level across the pond."
Regardless of league, he was a player who produced at an elite level across the pond, was he not? Now, had you say a top-5 player in the SEL or KHL, different story. |

That isn't what I said. I said elite producer in a top tier euro league.
The Czech league is so low down the totem pole that only 3 players have come to the NHL and played at least 20 games since the 2005 lockout. |

That was a direct quote from Matt Stratt, to which you replied "Name one..." Other things were said before, but he set out new criteria and you wanted an example. I gave you one.
I'm not saying Dopita was a top Euro player for the bulk of his time in Europe (although the "best player not in the NHL" tag followed him around for a while), but I named a player who produced at an elite level across the pond and couldn't find much success here. Either way, I'm done with this. |

Rino how'd you let this happen?... Howd ya let yourself get caught up in a Boyd/Feds tag team?
I think I have to side with Rino... Until a player has shown aka proven he can play at the top hockey level in world aka the NHL then said player is unproven at said level.
However, in defense of the tag team, most times that a player produces at an elite level across the pond they usually find some success doing so in NHL...
... But not always. - MattStrat
What can I say... I get trolled pretty easy sometimes lol. |
