Again, don't like it, move East.

The majority of the league plays in the East/Central time zones, so that's who they plan things around. It's always been that way.

- HonkFortheGoose

I was trying to articulate this point, but couldn't find the words.

There are more complaints during the championship round of any major sport because the west coast game is usually too early for people to get there on time and starts late for those on the east coast.

The Sabres (and other east coast teams) play at that time when they’re out West

If u think there’s gonna be 10pm east coast time games starting when they play in Buffalo, that will NEVER happen... EVER

- jdfitz77

I hated the 8 pm starts, I can't imagine 10

Yeah. Next year would be tight. I think the better play is to waive Moulson next year. You save 1 mil against the cap by sending him to roch and then you're done with it

It's not just about affording Kane. It's about affording Kane and still having room to upgrade. This team can't have Kane and Okposo signed long term and still upgrade to a championship contender. One of those two will need to be out.
- buffalofan19

The Okposo thing is really interesting, and it's good that we have until TDL to make the decision. Everyone should admit Kyle was among the league's most sought after free agents when we signed him, and he was playing well last year before his hospitalization, but it's clear he is not back to form yet. If he can get back to what he was, I think the "upgrade" that we need to be a championship contender is more solid performance out of the blue line, and more meaningful contribution in secondary scoring from the bottom six. That's where the young guys come in -Bailey is showing that he might be one of those guys. What about Baptiste, or Nylander (where the hell is he, anyway?) or Mittlestadt?

The additional benefit of having contribution from those youth is that it would permit Housley to distribute the established contributors all throughout the starting 12 (like Kessel playing in a third line role last year inPIT).

I guess my point is I am still open to the possibility that this team could be pretty good, and I think there is a real chance that the answers are already in the system. Of course, I Stamkos or Hall were dangled in front of me, I would certainly look at those options.

J fitz, I watch a lot of sabres hockey. Every minute, every game. Flew to the vegas game too.season ticket holder too. Saying he's the best net front presence since vanek means nothing. We have been terrible since he left.

It's funny how so people on the board just like players and won't accept that they are not very good. Maybe grandma bought you a 23 jersey for Christmas and you hope he'll be good?

I won't be hiding when/if silent sam lives up to expectations. Which for me isn't #2 overall, or even a top line player at this point. It's a viable consistent 3rd line center. He wouldn't even be on a 4th line of a Stanley Cup contender. He is definitely not a playoff type hard working, do anything to win guy

8pm starts are reasonable
It won’t ever be later than that for an east coast game though

That's Erod's mil right there though. I'll take Erod over Moulson all day, and it would basically be like you're only paying Moulson

Watching that much hockey doesn’t mean you’re right though
Saying Sam isn’t good in front of the net just isn’t very accurate
He scores a good number of goals from that area

I agree. In doing the buy out, you're only saving $1.4M next year and then you still have some that rolls to the following. If you waive him you save ~$1M and have no repercussions the following year. Makes more sense to me that way.

I’m not saying don’t do it...
but if we can work out a reasonable trade of Moulson, then that’s the best route imo to go
And probably the same with Bogosian

Hard Hat, is that you? 39?

But seriously, the front of the net is where Reinhart does most of his damage. It's the tips or the tap ins from a couple feet out that accounts for most of his goals. He (frank)ed up on a pass, it happens. Jack is literally the best player in the league in terms of controlled zone entries and he screws up skating the puck in quite a bit. Reinhart's having a bad start to the year. He'll be fine. Or he won't. But proclaiming something after 9 games is dumb.

On a positive note Scandella and Benoit-Balls have both looked like they're finally starting to play well.

- Wetbandit1

How much "damage" has he done with his 42 goals over parts of 4 seasons. Im talking about right now with his play, you keep hoping he'll be ok. It's not just the soft, heartless 9 games this year. He is NOT a core guy. Pretty much everyone up front is wearing an A . He's not even on the coaches radar for leadership.

There's a good possibility that we may have to retain part of Moulson's salary. It helps, so I wouldn't be opposed, but it's going to be hard to find someone to take him in general so I think we need to just expect that he's going to be here in some way next year. I don't see Botts buying him out because from a cap standpoint, it's really not that beneficial in this case.

Agree on Moulson. I would do up to a 3rd rounder just to get rid of him, but I'd rather see a package with Moulson for a young, fast wing for a couple seconds or something

Bogo would be easier to move imo. He still has some value, but you might have to retain up to a million dollars

We'd have to include a pick most likely
And maybe even keep some salary

Which is fine

Say Moulson & a 3rd for (whatever)
And we keep 1-2mi in salary

We still save 3-4mil, and open up a roster spot for a young guy
Heck... do it NOW if we can find a taker

He was playing hard on pucks all night. 2 instances that come to mind:

In the first at his own blueline, he overpowered the other player to steal the puck and get it out

That wrestling match in the 3rd where he went down.

What does having a letter have to do with anything though?

Would I like to see more from him right now? Yes. But he's being asked to play a different position this year than he's played at the NHL level for the most part up to this point in his career. He's also being asked to do it with wingers that aren't exactly the greatest options either. He needs to be better, but he hasn't exactly been put in a position to wildly succeed at this point this year either.

Watching as little hockey as you have, doesn't mean he's an allstar. Your making him out to be Dave anderchuck. 42 goals, many of of Jacks talent. Doesn't his lack of passion , size and speed bother anyone else. Apparently he's not that responsible either. Didn't he sit on the bench a whole game last year? Maybe you missed that game.

I don’t see how Moulson could ever be part of a package where we get something valuable back
We’d have to add too much
Just dump him however we can,
hopefully a 3rd & keep some salary does it

Then make the trade for that type guy u want, and he’ll cost us less bc they aren’t taking back Moulson

Good point, 2 plays with effort. Imagine that, he fell down on one of them. The lack of hard work, reflects in his penalty minute totals too. It's great that he doesn't take many pim's , but again isn't that a reflection of not giving an all out effort.

Move on dude, that's classy. Great debate. Yes , eichel has missed some shifts because of disipline. He is too important to sit for a whole game. Silent Samantha not relevent
