Penguins will live and die by the sword this year. I think the defense will improve, but I'm not sure by how much.
The Caps will feel the crunch and likely won't finish in the top-3.
Columbus looks strong, they'll go as far as Bob can take them,
Flyers, Islanders, and Carolina will likely battle for 2 spots.
Rangers look like poop. Weak forward depth is killing them.
New Jersey will realize they're New Jersey.

I'd give the Flyers a 60% chance to make the playoffs. Penguins will battle Columbus for the #1 spot.

I predicted the Caps to miss this year and I stand by that unless they make some smart moves to bolster their depth.

I agree on the Pens. Personally, I think they will finish 3rd. I think it will be an up and down season with them hitting a rut when the fatigue catches up.

I also agree on Carolina. I think the Pens and Jackets are locks with Carolina, NYI and you guys in the mix. I do expect the Rangers to pull things together, but it will be too little too late.

If I were GMJR, I'd feel kinda dirty right now to allow the Panthers to get taken like that by...umm, themselves? Feels like the Pens should at least give the Panthers a nice fruit basket or something for helping us out like that.

Reminds me of a time long ago when my old GF's Mother was selling a beat to crap oil-burning minivan for $1000 and a group of migrant farm workers paid her cash for it because they needed anything big enough to fit them all in to go back to Mexico and that was all they could find. She felt so bad for selling them a barely running crap box, that she made them all sandwiches and filled it with gas too. This feels kinda like that.
