I have felt all off season that Jim is going to make a trade for a top 6 player. I know some here don't think it is the right thing . I think we have the making of a decent top 6 in the next year or two. I like Granlund and Sutter so trading for a top 6 guy and one UFA signing plus a high draft pick is a smart thing IMO. I know many will see it differently

I think they've gotta stick to the draft and develop process, too many teams that are much better so they've got no chance to win a Cup.

They need to build a solid top six because they've currently only got one top six player under the age of 25. Maybe two if you say Boeser. That's where they need to concentrate imo.

Sedins minutes right now say they're third line players, replacing them is not in my mind the biggest issue, getting a true top six center with Horvat and some wingers should be their priority.

Guys like Sutter, Granlund, Baertschi, Virtanen, Burmy are good bottom sixers.

I think Boeser and Bo are top 6 players . I think Jake will be one too but we will leave him out of the equation for now . Trading for one will make it 3 and picking one up in Free Agency will make it 4 as Jake develops making it 5.

The problem is, trading for one might make them better but it doesn't make them good, Cup contending good, and it spends assets. So what's the point? Draft and develop your own. Shortcuts have proven disappointing thus far.....patience in the process.

If you can get an idiot GM to give you a good player for some poopty players then sure, do it, but Bennning doesn't have that track record.
