Sven had more goals last year and Sam has 12 more points .This year their numbers are about the same after 8 games. Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to give up a top pick and lose Sven

Not sure if anyone shared, but the Athletic interviewed his coach a week or two ago, this was my favourite response:

Athletic: What are some of the things Will needs to work on that you and the Canucks have identified?

MP: One of the things is share the puck a little bit more... The other thing is he doesn't have to be as physical as he is. Last year, he would hit everything in sight. He was like a heat-seeking missile, I mean, he was tenacious. I would say he played too physical for the size he is (5-foot-11, 172 pounds).

Canucks need to get to get to the cap ceiling in-order to take advantage of cap relief to its fullest. Any player on the same salary would of worked. From what I understand it is just a paper transaction and he likely won't make it to van.
