Here is a life lesson for you. How much you make is directly linked to how valuable you are to those who are paying you. If you're a CEO running a company that generates millions and millions on profit for the share holders or owners, than you're going to be well compensated for that. There is nothing unethical about that. Now there are certainly professions that in my opinion should be paid a lot more such as teachers, policeman, fireman, first responders, and armed forces but that is a complicated subject. - MJL
Aren't you the guy who used to admonish people for discussing non hockey topics? |

i went from page 4 to page 14 and clearly things veered off course between those 10 pages.
good lord.
let's say that Morin is called up and finds himself a regular for 5-6 weeks and plays well enough to deserve to stay. Amac then is declared healthy.
your move, ron. - hammarby31
That would very interesting |

A big positive of all this could be showing that the team can play well without amac. An opportunity presented itself, so they need to take it and run with it. AMac is the least likely to stick around out of that group (ignoring Manning) getting a trial run for replacing him is cool with me - YuenglingJagr
i realize there are some injury issues etc for the phantoms to consider. however, i would like to see him get a legit chance to play. see what's there. if he gets sent back down, assuming other injuries haven't occurred, then so be it. at least we'll have a sample. |

I just love this part:
"For basic living expenses (food, clothing etc.) $3,000 a month and budgets another $3,000 a month for miscellaneous expenses (entertainment, gifts etc.)"
Yes, let's spend frivolously with no thought of tomorrow. - jmatchett383
Also, for $240k in savings per year? Yes, yes I would give up all of that.
I would happily do that work in order to annually save 5x the amount of money I currently make in a year. |

Exactly. Give him a shot for a few games. If he can't hack it, then he can't hack it. But I doubt there would be a huge difference between the on-ice contributions of Morin and Manning. |

As I said in the previous thread, I have doubts they even bring him up if he is just going to sit in the Cote suite. - MBFlyerfan
this will make me mad. you can't tell me manning is a better option. i think this is a mistake, should they take that course of action.
well....you COULD tell me. i will simply disagree.

Yeah he was good enough to make the team out of camp, so there shouldn't be an issue with playing him. He is an NHL player, so he should care as much about Phantoms injuries as the rest of the Flyers defensemen |

The article is also skewed to make it seem like $240K (nothing to sneeze at) is the take-home pay. What he should really do is get rid of the food/clothing/gifts/rent/etc. and show what take home pay is. How the player chooses to spend that os up to them. |

Not in any way.
I’d love for anyone to tell me why A CEO of wal Mart should make how much he does and in turn live that lifestyle opposed to say a baker.
Education, effort, blah blah blah. Nobody should be making how much some of these people make. The gap is too big, and the world needs more of a communal vibe. Less greed and selfishness. - flyer_nutter

I think most people agree that the gap is too wide. But you know what, that's how things are, and there's nothing any of us can do right now to change it. Sucks, but it's the real world. You don't have to like it, but that's how it is.
So, about people being happy that a dude got injured... - jmatchett383
In some cases it is. However, the people who believe there should be no gap at all are out of touch with reality. |

Problem is thinking that the current reality is what’s best. That’s all brah.
Nobody is disputing what the real world is like, but more so that change could/should happen at some point. |

What we have in America, in general, is better than 99% of the rest of the world. It's not perfect, and it could be better, but it's better than almost everything else. |

I want to end this topic really but do you know what the core of Marxism really was about? Or just the voodoo stuff that was thrown out there to scare people from big bad mother Russia. |

Think it’s best if this topic ends really haha. But yes, I agree it’s the best that’s probably out there minus a few Euro countries. Hence why everyone wants to immigrate to the “west”. |

It's rather unlikely tomorrow's top 6 will stay in place all the way till after Thanksgiving, which would be five weeks and 15 games. |

Why respond like that? He posted numbers and documented his opinion. I'm assuming he got that from somewhere. Why not step up and offer a rebuttal with an actual response? - MJL
he probably took it from here (sorry if this is late, just back reading now)
http://www.thehockeynews....ary-not-as-much-you-think
thing is cost of living is so varied. I mean, it really does depend on whether the player has a family (needs a larger place obviously) and , well, taste. I'm sure you can rent a place or a reasonable price in jersey opposed to renting in center city. if you want an expensive car then yeah leasing a luxury car will cost you more than something more affordable. I could go on and on. |
