Muzzin is playing like a godamned stud right now and Martinez ain't done poop. - TheMussel
They wouldn't get a lot for Martinez. Just stating what Lebrun said.

Jake Muzzin is interesting for sure. Two more years at 4mil per though he will carry significant trade value to any team in the league.

Does look a lot better. - Blazed
For sure. But the Leafs have the peices and the forward depth/prospects to do it. This is probably the most likely scenerio aside from the leafs trying to develop their own Guy. But Dermott/lilajgren are years away from putting in any top 4 mins.
Babs likes Muzzin a lot as well. Could make sense. |

I was hoping too, their D just cant stay healthy right now.
We need a top pair D...watching Z and Gards get the most ice is giving me a rash.

(frank) Tavares or Thornton or whoever, could Doughty possibly/realistically be acquired this off-season? - Blazed
UFA after next year.
I think the most realistic dream is to hope LA poops the bed hard for the next two years, and Doughty wants to come home (with his junior high school buddies begging him to wear blue and white).
But I once read on the interwebz that Southern California is a nice place to be a millionaire, so I am not optimistic. |

Which makes me wonder if Marner might be better on his off wing. I found it so much easier playing on the left side as a right shot. Had to get use to receiveing the pass on the back hand but once you enter the zone there was way more options imo. But then again i sucked, so what do i know lol

He looked good with Matthews and nylander on that one shift. Other then that it’s been tough.
I don’t blame on the 2nd goal either. It was a short pass from borgman but almost like taking a blind pass. No time for him to gain control of it before the sen player was coming straight for him. - bryant
Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for Marner to get 20 minutes a night with the Marlies for a few games, rack up some points and get his mojo working. |

Oh yeah I forgot about Brown.
He has been truly impressive this season, tied with Kadri I would say for the 3rd best forward on the team.
Winning teams have guys like Brown. - Aetherial
Agreed, like finding a wallet when you pick a guy like that in the 6th round. |

I actually think that would be the worst tbing for him.
His problem right now is he is still trying to do the crazy poop he did in the OHL - dangling the puck for seven minutes before skating through the entire team and scoring.
He needs to stay in the NHL and figure out what his NHL game needs to be. |

Thinking he just needs to sit a couple games - watch and learn. He may not see the forest from the trees.
Some of the success of both Matthews and Kadri's lines is their execution of some of the more simple parts of the game - the good things they now do without thought.
Also noticed Marner spends an awful lot of time on the ice, but not on his skates. His girlfriend is responsible. |

Komorov Moore leivo*
*not going to take out Martin for whatever reason so it'll still be him - burn
If you go by current ice time - even just last night - you end up with a 4th line of
Martin Moore Komarov
Slip in Fehr every other game.
I have no issue with that at all.
Looked to me like Martin blocked a few shot last night, but he isn't important enough for me either way at the moment.
Leivo as a LW really only has Martin as a possible guy to replace at the moment which is why he isn't playing.
Marner's slump messes things up a bit, because he's a RW no one figured they had to worry about. |

They cannot play into the other teams system like that. They have to impose their game on others, use their speed to break down the other team and try to make them make mistakes and draw penalties.
Last night they looked lost, didn't know what to do - burn
Yep!..totally agree with that ..But once the sens were playing a trap type game. .babs should of had them counter in some way?..not sure how tho again I've mentioned that if the leafs aren't skating and being aggressive getting pucks behind the defense.with a strong forcheck and cycle. .it's going to be a long night. .and the defense needs work big time..wish they had possibly a great defensive coach? ..I'm too hungover have a great day. ..me not so much |

This may sound crazy, but I've always thought that Marner tries to do extraordinary things on the ice.
Matthews (most of the time) just tries to do ordinary things - he just does those things better than anyone else.
Like, a lot better. |

For the most part they couldn't get through the neutral zone, they should have been dumping it in more if/when the neutral zone got too clogged up. - burn
Certainly harder said than done when the D looks up and sees all of those wrong jerseys. They removed the 2 line offside pass to try to render the trap useless, added the obstruction calls, yet here it still is, the dreaded 1 3 1.
Speed, numbers and patience are the key to beating the trap, but all 5 guys on the ice have to be in sync. The trap can also put the defending team in a big hole in a hurry if the opposing team has an excellent puck moving defenseman and the forwards attack with speed and confidence. As you mentioned, getting to center is the key, with the forwards hitting the opposing blue line in stride after the dump in. If the forwards leave too early - screwed. If the D gets forced to the boards - screwed. |
