Yep.. every fan base is in some part complaining about the refs/penalties to some degree, and some for sure are warranted! But there are rule changes and they actually should benefit the leafs..grabbing slashing and so on..to slow down a team that can skate and has speed! The games changing to a speed and skill game, and when the leafs don't play to their strengths they'll get burned!..but give the sens credit they came to play.. and showed this club it needs to play 60mins and not get caught up in past game success 😨

If we make the playoffs this year it will most likely be another wildcard spot. This teams defense is going to be a work in progress for some time to come. I hope they sign Polak soon. He's not pretty but he's a big dude that can clear bodies in front of the net.
The Sens play a stifling defense style that might not be the most exciting but it's very effective and they were up to the challenge tonight. I wouldn't be surprised the Sens finish in the top 3 of the Atlantic division again this year. Very underrated team.

I'd argue either the 1st worst or 2nd worst game of the season, thus far, by the Leafs D.

They literally gave 4 goals away. Anything more they could have done, is just score on themselves.

To add insult to injury, forwards show up to play only in the 3rd period...except the Matthews line, who kept pushing whenever they could.

Only highlight, besides the kids' scoring, I thought Andersen had one of his better "losing" games, if that were a thing.

Brutal giveaways for 50 of the 60 minutes played.

"Played" is more like it.

Andersen never got into a good groove last year until about 10-15 games into the season.

Agreed, very sloppy. Give credit to Ottawa, they started the game 'on time'... most of our guys didn't until the 3rd...

Every team has to deal with same rules..Learn the shtt and dont take penalty's..
- Fruitcakenipple

Hard to follow the rules when the linesmen don't drop the puck properly.

Even the incredibly anti leaf announcers couldn't understand the Penalty

They cannot play into the other teams system like that. They have to impose their game on others, use their speed to break down the other team and try to make them make mistakes and draw penalties.

Last night they looked lost, didn't know what to do

Agreed... it was tough to watch... didn't play their game at all... That neutral zone... I wanted to blow it up... it was like a land mine field to them...

I'm disappointed that they didn't seem to make any adjustment until the 3rd period. Matthews and nylander were basically were the only ones that could do anything. I thought brown had a good game but his two linemates were floating.

The only solace I can take away from this is that, even though they basically only showed up in the 3rd period (and were rewarded with a PP finally), they still made a game of it and came within a goal twice.

Still a bit concerned about Andersen: yeah, none of those were bad goals, but if he shut the door in the 3rd, we probably would've come back and at least walked away with a point.

That's what the best teams in the league do, get a point when they don't deserve it.

Yep, exactly... Matthews and Nylander were the only ones I thought had a chance last night... I like Brown too... the D were pretty weak getting it out of our zone... no puck support from the forwards... (frank)ing ugly give aways all game... I was triggered...

I hope that Lou is working on finding us a top 2 or 3 defenseman before the trade deadline. This team has the offense to win right now. Pittsburgh seems to have some holes and Tampa seems to be the other team that has the strength to get to the finals, besides the Leafs. If Lou can fill that hole, the Leafs could get there, before they go into Cap hell, in two years. After that, it'll be difficult to stay near the top. I'd even consider moving Marner, if the payout was a top end defender. Do you really want to allocate $25+ million to 3 forwards in two years? Maybe a portion of that cap space should go to upgrading the back end. It should go to a player like Aaron Ekblad, who would stabilize the top 4, being a right shooting defender that could be slotted in beside Morgan Rielly. A Marner for Ekblad deal would be useful for both teams, with possible futures being part of such deal.

Pathetic game by the leafs.
Sens dominated them for most of the game
They were the much better team.

Are leaf fans whining about the ref'n again? Happens almost every game. The officiating is bad, bad with all teams. Cest la vie.

Andersen played well for half the game.
The sens were too much for the pourous leaf defense and forwards.
Better team won
