I guess you didn't watch the Flames last year or the first seven games of this season. There's no possible way to twist it that Bennett has more value in a trade than Galchenyuk. On top of that, you seem to think Brouwer has trade value.

How exactly is Bergevin supposed to sell a trade that brings in one of the worst contracts in the league and a player who's been slumping for a over a year. Even if they get rid of all the draft picks, it's an awful trade for them.

If you see Galchenyuk as a major downgrade from Bennett anyway, why even suggest the trade?

- Hunkulese

Are you just thick? Subban for Webber
Bergevin makes horrible trades. No secret how badly he wants a centre. & yes, they have been playing Galchenyuk on the 4th line, coach & GM have soured on him. To get a 4th overall pick back is a risk. Bergevin has been into truculence as well, Brouwer fits right in the mold even though he hasn't been consistently giving us that. Brouwer also evens the salary for Galchenyuk out.

Gotta say, my patience with Bennett is really starting to run out.

I still say we should bring Janko up and move Bennett to wing. Hopefully in an easier position he won't take as many dumb penalties. But man, that kid has got to start doing something other than leaving the team short-handed.

Let's try him on wing and see if that helps. If not, might be time to get him outta here.

- Helios

Aside from a spitball trade suggestion, I think bringing Janko up & putting Bennett on his wing is the way to go on that 3rd line. Not sure who I would prefer on that line, Versteeg or Ferland.

Kevin. Its Friday and you need a drink.

Patience. Bennett is in a funk but we have not tried him out at wing. Its still early and I believe when the floodgates open for the kid he will produce. No need to sell low on a guy like Galchenyuk.

Brouwer will be gone next year and pretty sure Montreal wants that cap space for Tavares anyways.

That's the best idea I've heard yet. A Crown at 2:30 sounds good to me.

I seem to be in panic mode today because my hockey pool teams are sucking as well

But I was thinking, Montreal are desperate for a centre & really down on Galchenyuk. What if we were to do a deal like Bennett & Brouwer to them for Galchenyuk & their 2018 1st & 2019 2nd? Brouwer & Galchenyuk contracts pretty well wash out. Is Bergevin desperate enough to roll the dice. With Janko really ready for 3rd line duty & extending Backlund seems to be the right thing to do, this could be an interesting deal. Please talk me out of this funk

Not sure we a 2019 second round to throw in with Brouwer to soften the blow of another team taking him off our hands.

Again, you're an idiot. At least that's something we can all agree on.

Subban for Weber was one thing, but at least you can spin it and sell it to the owners and fanbase that it was a good move. There's no possible way to spin the trade you suggested. Their payroll goes up, they lose a 1st and a 2nd, they get a player who hasn't been able to do anything useful except kill penalties for the last year and is still owed 9 million plus, and their search for a centre is going to be solved by a guy who's had zero success at the NHL level and has a fanbase clamouring that they stop playing him at centre. Even without giving up Galchenyuk, it makes zero sense for Montréal to make that trade.

Can't put it all on him. Other than 2 or 3, the rest are idiots too.

Honestly, you are not only a fcktard but a fcktard that can't add, Galchenyuk's salary is 4.9 mill for 2 more years after this, Brouwers is 4.5 mill for 2 more years after this. Both players are on the 4th line. We are not in need for a centre, Montreal is. So you don't like the trade proposal, good for you, fck off, I don't need a reply from you nor do I care about your opinion. Idiot

I have been an advocate of keeping Bennett as a centre. When i see him with better players (Ferland & Gaudreau) he is a better player & shows his potential. Then boom he gets stuck on the fcking 3rd line & he starts to perform as a 3rd liner. I am now ready to agree that we need to bring Janko up & put him on that 3rd line & initially try Bennett on the wing & Versteeg or Ferland on the other side. Stajan needs to move to press box & put Lazar with Brouwer & Versteeg or Ferland on the 4th line.
& for fck sakes put Kulak in the line up instead of fcking Bart.
Enough is a fcking nough

- Kevin R

I agree with this!! But lazar said not the answer. Brouwer and Bart have to go. Kulak janko and maybe Hathaway up

This is why I usually just ignore the idiots in this thread. It's impossible to have a discussion with someone who can't even form a coherent thought. I can't add? Where exactly is the addition when you're comparing 4.5 and 4.9? Zero addition involved there. Here's a question for you, what's 4.5 + 1.95? Is that number greater than 4.9?

Montreal is desperate for a centre? Why is that? Because the guy they drafted with a top five pick wasn't working out as a centre so they had to move him to wing. So why would they trade for a guy who was drafted with a top five pick who isn't working out at centre who will probably have to move to the wing.

Most people would say the Flames were getting the better end of the deal if it was just a straight up Bennett for Galchenyuk swap, but you still think Montreal would have to take the awful Brouwer contract and give up a 1st and 2nd? This is something you really want to argue about? You look dumber and dumber every time you try and defend it.
