And for a good portion of the game, the Rangers held the Preds to almost the same amount of shots up until the end of the third shots were 14-18. They played well.

They were lucky to come out with this win in showing up overall for the most part in the 1st Period only, with the exception of Hank and the penalty killers, especially the 4 who were on the ice for those 2:00 of non-stop pressure by the Preds, on that 3rd period power play. That was a horrific call against Smith for knocking the net loose off its moorings with under 9:00 remaining in the 3rd, when he was clearly shoved into the right side post of the Rangers net by a Preds player, causing it to be knocked loose.
Registering at home, only 3 SOG in each of the last 2 periods against the Preds backup goalie in Saros, is pathetic, especially without getting a single shot on goal on two consecutive 2nd Period power plays, shortly prior to Hayes's game winning highlight goal turning out to be the difference.
Also, Hank sent his "Thank you" card to Nashville head coach, Peter Laviolette, for rightfully so using his timeout call with around 1:30 remaining, to set up a play to try & tie the score with having his goalie pulled. That finally allowed Hank to get a breather after sustaining all that pressure both on that Preds power play, and immediately after with only a couple of play stoppages in between, for about that prior 10 minutes maximum of DAY time, (i.e., not the "game clock time").
A.V. would not have done so for Hank, just as he passed up doing so shortly after that onslaught of shot attempts, SOG's, and continuous puck possession that Nashville maintained deep in the Rangers zone for the full 2:00 on that mistakenly called power play which ended about a few minutes earlier only daytime wise speaking, with Hank being temporarily gassed.
