I think you have to be 19 to play AHL if you came from the CHL, because they control your rights for 4 years after drafting. Maybe that's the confusion?

Who knows. Kid started out battling for every puck, creating plays and then AV decided to put him on the 4th line. Looked great on the 1st line with Zibanejad. If anything, Kreider should have been demoted off that line-up.

It's 20 for CHL drafted players. Guys drafted out of Europe can go right to the AHL. Same thing happened with both Nylander brothers. Drafted out of Swedish leagues, went right to the AHL.

Why is Buchnevich playing on the 4th line? It's not like they are loaded with top end talent up front. That kid should be playing a lot more then he is, no?

Kreider must drive you guys nuts. He can be a beast at times and then becomes invisible for long stretches. What did you think of Barzal last night? Curious to read a non Islander review of him. I thought he was the best forward on the ice last night

Barzal looked way better than I expected. After watching him in the WJC last year I thought he was going to be one to try and hold on to the puck way too long and do too much himself. But he showed none of that last night.

Watching last night I swear AV just gave up and went to the shinny system of "next up, next on for the pairings and forward lines.

Maybe next game A.V. will pick his forward lines first, followed by his d'man pairings out of that team hat awarded to the Ranger player deserving it after a win. He may also pick his starting goalie from it as well, because for a team that wanted to give Hank at least 20 to 25 games of rest, to be fresher for the postseason, Pavelec may never get another start due to their desperation to win a second game with 10% of their season over already. At this rate, Pavelec will receive only another 7 starts for the season, giving Hank 74 in total. Maybe A.V. forgot Hank's age since the season began, among many other things with his job.
