They probably would have been better off moving Raffl to the Filppula line and putting Read at 4RW last night.

Lehtera may just suck in general, but coming in cold after almost a month without a game and playing in the top 6 against a good team is a tough task. Read at least had played competitive hockey recently.

I didn't realize that one of this board's posters prepared speeches for the NFL referees.

I didn't even see last night's game so my opinion is more so based on pre-season, which I know still isn't enough to properly judge him.

Call it a hunch, he's bought out next June.

Why buy him out though? They don't need the extra cap space for next year, and they can bury $1.05M of it if need be by waiving him. No need to have dead money on the cap for 2 years.

i'm sure the goal has been dissected to death. filppula takes heavy blame, imo, for letting up on scissons. he stopped skating, let him go, which allowed him to get the shot off. simple as that. i hate that (frank)ing poop. don't let up. don't glide by the net. don't turn away.

Simmonds for the crappy pinch, AMac for the turnover, Filp for losing his man... Plenty of blame to go on that one

You're right, they don't really need it right now but things could change between now and June. I'm fine with either scenario. Lehtera could also turn his game around and make things easier for all parties.

A June 2018 buyout would save them some actual money, but there's no cap or roster reason to do it since he can be demoted and replaced by Vecchione or Vorobyev for 18-19. It's the same situation as Read this season.

That's what I was talking about. They'd only owe him $3.333M actual dollars with a buyout as opposed to $5M, but there's no cap/roster reason to do it.

I don't blame simmonds much on that. I'd rather simmonds take his chances going forward than retreating and trying to play D

The statement from the NFLRA about Pete Morelli is hilariously familiar
- YuenglingJagr

yeah, let's just ignore the data which points to a glaring trend. nothing to see here. move along. the NFL is nothing but a pillar of integrity in every facet.

It is incredibly odd at a minimum. They get evaluated based on the calls they make/don't make. So you'd think he would have to be getting paid by someone who wants the Eagles to lose for him to try to do his job worse.

Officiating in the NFL in general is just unbearable. Every other play is a penalty.

Question:

Let's say the Flyers were able to trade AMac at the TDL, with no salary retained, to Pittsburgh for a 5th round pick. AMac becomes the new Ron Hainsey and logs top minutes as a key part of the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup.

Are you happy or sad?

Yup, I thought it was Lehtera at first but realized later it was filppula. Simmonds gambled (a little stupidly) after MacDonald made an acceptable pinch then Filppula just stopped once he gained the dzone blue line. Ugh.

On a similar note Amac was bad for the first couple games. Has been ok since
