This is a time I should be visiting NY... I haven't been to a Sabres game since the early 2000's...

Tank year 2, I got tickets vs the devils for 7 dollars.

In retrospect, they were grossly overpriced

No they don't. 10 games or 30 days before he has to clear waivers again.

Just read it, and yeah it sucks to feel like you're wasting money, but buying season tickets doesn't entitle you to wins. Like everything else with him, it's all about what's happening to Schopp. If you have that kind of disposable income and you can't go to a game with family and friends and enjoy the experience regardless of outcome, then stop buying tickets.

Even strength save% very much in favor of Lehner... Johnson's .857 is not good at all, while Lehner's .946 is very strong.

So yeah...about Lehner sucking?

Being a season ticket holder for years and trying to stick with the team through all of this, I can totally relate to what he's saying. The group that I was a part of gave our tickets up going into this season. It has nothing to do with the fact that they've been bad. We get it, buying seasons doesn't guarantee anything, but being told year after year that the ticket price is increasing and then getting there to see the product hasn't improved (at all really) gets to be a bit old at some point.

I don't think you can quite relate to what he's saying unless you've been in the same situation, so unless you've been a season ticket holder, you don't really quite understand where he's coming from.

The interesting part about what he told you is that if a woman has that kind of behavior, she's called terrible names. But if a guy does it, it's just the norm and society accepts it.

Ridiculous...

The ticket prices aren't really up to the Sabres though, because the league mandates increased ticket revenue every year. Inflation and ROI for owners is the name of the game. If the cost of goods exceeds the value to a season ticket holder, stop buying the tickets. His article wouldn't exist if the Sabres were doing well and everyone knows that. It's like Mike getting mad at the NYS lottery ticket prices because he didn't win 50 bucks on a scratch off

I agree with him with everything except the revenue sharing part. Revenue sharing is the business model that this league runs on. I can't fault any team for raising prices to qualify for it. That said, you can give the fans more perks in return for doing so.

Also, I make the stupid financial decision to pay for cable for the sole reason of watching HD games without the hassle of pirating streams, so I'm basically in the same boat. It sucks to watch them lose, but in the dregs of winter, it's kind of nice regardless of outcome. It sounds to me like Schopp is just done being a fan, which is fine, but he's trying to make it a pathos moral issue

Listen, I get it. I understand all of that as well, but the cost from when we started our seasons (06-07 season) to now is more than doubled, and we were up in the 300s. Add in the cost of parking has increased in those years, concessions ALWAYS increase (and suck) and you have a recipe for a lot of people to decide it's just not worth the investment to be quite honest.

That's not to say that I'm not going to games at all anymore, but my b/f and I decided to just go the route of getting a mini pack. We got 5 games (so 10 tickets altogether) in the 300s and it was right around $300. For 16 tickets as part of the season ticket group I was in, I was paying over $600. The value to have seasons just isn't there anymore, which is really what Schopp is trying to say.

This. You get a certain percentage on a rewards card to use on concessions and/or merchandise, but when you're in a group, it's hard for everyone to be able to take advantage of that. Not to mention that the actual game day experience isn't good there. The presentation could be much better. The concessions are sub par (I've been to multiple places where it's MUCH better) and those costs have gone up dramatically year over year as well.

So much this. They decided to make it a family event, rather than a hockey event. They play crappy music, they trot out Lauren hall to talk to kids and they show America's funniest home videos. It's like when the city of Vegas tried to market itself as a family destination and then realized that was dumb. I'm not a fan of thrash metal, but I'd rather hear that at a hockey game than top 40 crap

Josefson is a made of glass and is only good in the shootout. He is more or less a complete waste of a roster spot. Coming from a Devils fan here. He sucks. Waste of a first round pick.

Marko Dano will sit tonight as Brendan Lemieux makes his NHL debut tonight in Winnipeg against the Minnesota Wild. In rushes yesterday the Jets coach Paul Maurice had the blender out trying to tweak some things in hopes of jump-starting the listless group that showed up on Tuesday.

Now that the Devils are the most exciting team in hockey next to Toronto I don't think you'd pay $7!!!
