Yzerman is an astute GM.

I think Bergevin is an idiot but I also concede he has the toughest job in hockey.

- golfingsince

I know this might sound ridiculous to some, but I think having Carey Price made it worse for him. The pressure to win in that market is huge, add in the best goalie in the world and all of a sudden you have to trade and sign for players in order to win now.

I think NYR was pretty lucky to have the success the did around Lundqvist, and will start to pay for it. Montreal will go through the same cycle, but worse IMO

I think this proves the point that some were making yesterday about how it would have been 2 minutes for other teams.

- manvanfan

I dont know. Gudbranson was seeing numbers all the way and had time to correct his angle, Kassian despite his speed was shoulder

Not the same hit at all, but yeah the league is in a huge conspiracy against the Canucks. I’m surprised that they even allow penalties to called against any teams that play the Canucks.

I missed last night's game, can anyone tell me if Gagner played ok or does Jake deserve a shot playing with Bo?

Still waiting for the f'n Rangers to f'n suffer but f'n AV and NHL HQ has so far worked to f'n protect them. But totally agree the Rangers to need to pay.

I'd say Kassian hits him basically in the number 3 not the shoulder. Kassian has more time to avoid then Guds did. Hartman was also 2 feet further away from the boards.

To me they are equal 5 and 10 or 2 minutes. Just lack of consistency. I get that its hard because it happens so quickly.

Sort of the same as the slashing penalty. Wave your stick into the hands wether you tap or whack it's 2.

Dunno.
But if Dahlin is anything like him, then i'm free falling for Dahlin *

*statistically as unlikely as it will be.

- dbot

"Free Fallin for Dahlin" should be the Canucks advertising slogan for this season

Awesome more league conspiracy, so how does the league protect AV, he was a Canuck coach, contradiction right there

The Habs are going to have some struggles for sure, although they still have time to have an impact. Losing Radulov really hurt them and their D is no longer a strength. They really need someone to step up for them in a big way.

When you have the best goalie in the world, you should be trying to put together a team to win now.

JV played with every center last night except with Bo. Perhaps the blender will land on that speed to make it happen. BB seems less effective on Bo's RW and more active with others.

Gagner played what seemed to be his best game so far. Though he didn't connect on his chances. He's been used like Granlund all over the place and both share same results so far.

Dude, it's been proven a couple of times the league will do anything within their power to have AV win the cup. They were just powerless both times his team played in the finals.

are you over the '94 Cup....not me...but don't matter what you were when you are in the center of the universe then all changes. By the way the post said AV is protecting Rangers as in he's been a good coach for them.

Well this is the final year for that.
They should have been trying to do that when he was on the cheap.

Now he has such a brutal cap hit, that he should be scoring goals for them as well with how much he gets paid.

They are used to winning games. I think I would be more mad at management then the coach.

Shattenkirk signing but trading away back up goalie and top center.

Acquiring firsts was a solid play.

It was a great hit. Not our future captain's fault that he turned his back to him.

that is a problem with that position. sole job is to stop pucks. can't go up ice and score or break up plays. play a 200ft game.

I'd guess most gm's would say they want an elite forward or dman before a goalie, but you work with what you have. MAB just makin moves that aren't working out right now.

A little bit on the 3, I'll give you that. It was a poor angle for Kassian to take

The problems I have with the Gudbranson hit is that Vatrano's shoulders are parallel with the boards the entire time and Vatrano slows down prior to contact. Attacking the numbers is a bad decision, but if Vatrano hadnt slowed down, Gubrandson would have missed the hit entirely, making it an even worse decision for me

You're being an inconsistent ref.

Gudbranson took one step from the net to hit him... he's just huge so the impact was harder. Kagan took many strides to top speed then smashed him as he was turning away from the boards... Kassian would have hit him in the back of he hadn't turned towards him.

Both deserved a 5 minute major in my mind.
