Agreed. I'm just trying to understand what the negotiation looked like. Which players was Sakic demanding? Did Snow make a counter-offer? If so, what was it? Inquiring minds want to know....

Yea I'm curious but since it isn't going to happen guess it doesn't matter. There's also this

Only 3 teams in the 4-Divison era have started as bad as #NYR yet still made the PO:
13/14 PHI (1-7-0)
15/16 ANH (1-5-2)
13/14 NYR (2-6-0)

If barzal was part of the deal for duchene then the isles made the right choice in standing pat
- Upstate_isles

I agree. I did not want to move a player like Barzal for a guy that could walk in two years

Duchene has proven it but barzal looks very good now it's only been 7 games so I'll reel in my expectations a bit but I think he will be the best player not wearing 91 on this team

I agree. I really would have liked to get Duchene, but Barzal should be a very good 2C for a long time and should be even better with better wings that can keep up with him.

He certainly came into training camp with a purpose and has continued to play well in the regular season. His play away from the puck and D zone play have been good as well.
I would say if there was a weakness to his game it would be Faceoffs however he can certainly work on those. You have to like what you've seen from him albeit a small sample size, but with his skill set he can be a very important piece to this Team in the years to come.

I agree 7. Thought Barzal was too big a piece to give up and especially in a Cap world. Barzal can easily be the solution to 2C. I think Doug should really give Barzal Beau and Ho Sang a chance playing together and you put Nelson with Bailey and Ladd.

I'm fine if you need to sit the young guys for a game. I just do not like them sitting for more than a couple.

Weight: 11/7 again, Beau for Ho-Sang, Seidenberg for Mayfield. Greiss in goal. Mayfield a bit banged up.

Nelson and Bailey just do not click. They tried that during 2015-16. It was horrible.

What I said as well DM, he needs to stop the turnovers or he will be a fixture in the pressers.

I think they will be rotated when one shows a lingering issue. By January, I'd expect all the youngsters in the lineup.

I just rather have all the kids together since they can all skate well and keep up with each other.

It's about accountability, I just don't want the vets getting a free pass.

Exactly! If vets are also held accountable then there are no issues.

I agree in principle. I would just defend him a little by saying that he's always going to have more turnovers than most of the other forwards on the team. Why? Because he is asked to do more with the puck. He is expected to skate the puck into the offensive zone on a regular basis. Problem is he gets there and lots of time he doesn't have an open teammate to pass to.

Hopefully a game in the presser tonight, sitting next to a brilliant hockey mind like Snow, will help him learn how to avoid turnovers.

He tries 3 too many moves at times and needs to keep it simple. He is similar to barzal but barzal knows when to hold and when to dish, he is a bit more refined

He made some horrible passes the other night when he had support. He was trying to be too cute. He could have taken the safe play, but he didn't. I'm fine with letting him sit a game. The problem I have with the Isles holding players accountable is it's selective. Some players get benched, others never miss a shift.

As to your other post beau should be in as he is better defensively until ho sang figures it out. I'm sure they don't want to take away his creativity but at the same time they want to make him more responsible in his own end and stop trying to be too fancy

I see Ek has the Isles as one of the teams on Duchene again. Would really be nice to finally wrap this thing up. NHL has these trade saga's that last forever.
