No, because those are two high impact players that should be in the lineup at all times. My point was subbing in Sanheim for Manning is really not going to make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Yes, I think Sanheim has a great skill set, but what are you going to say if he looks terrible the next few games???
I just think Hakstol should settle on three pairs of D and let them grow together. You shouldn't be worried if one or two mistakes are going to put you in the rafters the next game. - boxcar65
There absolutely should be competition for some spots on the lineup and Manning should absolutely be in that situation.

I guess I didn't do a good job of it but my post was an attempt at sarcasm. In my opinion your premise of blaming Hakstol if they lose because he sat Manning and played Sanheim, is ridiculous. I agree that some are over the top on Manning but he is a part time 6/7 in this league at best, and he should not be a regular in the lineup. - MJL
I know it was sarcasm. That's why I laughed and made a reference to Mandog playing as much as possible.
He's an undrafted kid who worked hard at the minor league level to finally earn a crack in the NHL. He obviously has the respect of his teammates and coaches. I knew from the start of camp he was probably going to be the #7 and play maybe 20-25 games this year. Our young D have surpassed him in talent level. All that being said, it's still nice to see what I would consider a longshot have some success in the big show. |

On a totally different note is it's kind of nice to see this team playing and see what Hextall did to the roster and see what's in the pipeline. Compare it to Buffalo, who basically tanked to get a top pick in the McDavid/Eichel draft, and yet seems to still be struggling to move forward |

I disagree. Manning had a particularly poor game on Tuesday even for his regular standards. His ice time was indicative of that. The coaching staff is not playing Manning tonight. - MJL

Thing is that you have to hit on a few picks in a rebuild - not just the top ones. I also think Matthews is a much better player than Eichel.
Flyers were in the boat of having a nice stockpile of young prospects but lacked the needed star power. Hopefully Patrick is that guy. Think they need one more "elite" forward to take that next step in a few years. |

Buffalo's team D is awful. I'm glad we're not in that situation. |

Which is exactly why Hakstoll doesnt mind changing those two for the game following a win.. |

Off-topic, but guy in the Pens thread saying that Lundqvist should not get into the HHOF because he doesn't have any championships (wrong) and because he has a sub-.500 win% in the playoffs.
Look, I hate the Rangers as much as any red-blooded American neanderthal, but Lundqvist should be in the HHOF when all is said and done. - jmatchett383
Tell him that Niemi has a Cup and will never get into the HHoF unless he buys a ticket. |

I kind of got annoyed with the whole Babcock lotto but you have to admit he has shut up some people. The team is stacked, but I dont for a second think they would be as good as they are if they had a guy like Paul Maurice behind the bench. |

This is where Hank would simply comb his fingers through his hair and laugh.
Edit: I just had one of those winning poops. No TP even needed. |

Man, Edmonton has been hot garbage ever since opening night
You know what's gonna happen: They're gonna lose tonight, but play better. Then on Saturday, it's gonna be like 1985 Gretzky-to-Kurri all over again |

Mason has a .846%, with nearly a 6GAA in 3 starts.
Jets are trash in their own end but damn that is ugly. - flyer_nutter

I went to look at Bryz/Bob in the infamous pre trade season... Guess what I was shocked.
Bryz actually had better numbers |

Seriously, look at the dmen. Sure they have Provorov who was the 7th pick but they also have a 2nd and 3rd round pick in the top 4 making major contributions. Great drafting |

I wasn't happy they didn't re-sign Mason and I wasn't happy with the Elliott signing. Right now it looks like they made the right choice. I'm still not thrilled with Elliott though. |

Well, I don't believe they will come to Philly anyway. But yes, I understand economics and the way taxes work.
Im probably a little older and more experienced than you.
- MBFlyerfan
I doubt they come here as well. My bet is Boston or Austin.
But you have to admit, all of these cities promising gigantic tax breaks to a company worth hundreds of billions. Highly doubt the public gets their money back. Probably not as egregious as the publicly funded stadium scam.
Ok so now that Sanheim is back in the lineup, hopefully coach and fans realize there will be another round of bumps as the player gets back up to speed. This is why it made more sense to just play him. If he has a poor game or two or three, the player has the rope to continue to improve their game by playing through it.
Right now, what is the threshold that will keep Sanheim in the lineup? The team winning? The individual play of the player? I'm sure its the latter but it needs to be multiple consecutive games, even amid mistakes during the games.
