If we lose tonight, it will be because the coach went against his normal philosophy of keeping the lineup intact after a win. Look, I like Sanheim and want him to do well, and I'm not saying Manning has had anything to do with the wins, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Manning usually makes a couple of mistakes per game(like any D-man out there), but I don't think players should be on pins and needles worrying if they will be scratched after a mistake. Are Manning and Sanheim the only two who can get scratched? Gudas hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire so far. Oh well. Hope the boys can win another one tonight.

No need. When it's 8 years at $7.01m announced on July 5th, 2018 our resident historian will dig it out as proof of how wrong you always are.

I can say the same in that it's shocking that you disagreed with me. It's not the norm. He normally plays a lot better than that. If he played at that level on a regular basis, he would not be in the NHL. He had numerous turnovers and issues with the puck in that game. If in your opinion that is Manning than that contradicts your previous post that he was fine. That level of play is not fine, whether it's the norm for a player or not.

I like Manning but he had a really bad game.
- nastyflyergirl

Again what do you expect....Manning is a below average defenceman....he played below average. So we are on the same page he should never play ahead of Sanheim or Morin for that matter

Cautious optimism. I have to be lured in to watch the boys consistently the last few years. Like a sweet baby deer they need to entice me to come closer.

Playing the kids that are obviously ready, is the bait I need. Give it to me.

Gudas on a horrible day is slightlty worse than Manning on a great day. So yes, it's Manning and Sanheim right now.

God, the love for Manning due to his "hard worker" status and willingness to get punched in the face repeatedly is mind-boggling.

Yes, but last year, we didn't have a clear NHL-ready upgrade for him. Not so much the case with Manning this year.

Off-topic, but guy in the Pens thread saying that Lundqvist should not get into the HHOF because he doesn't have any championships (wrong) and because he has a sub-.500 win% in the playoffs.

Look, I hate the Rangers as much as any red-blooded American neanderthal, but Lundqvist should be in the HHOF when all is said and done.

I agree, if they lose tonight, the players on the ice won't have anything to do with it. It will be all because he didn't play Manning who had a poor game last time out. Manning's spot in the lineup should be a lock.

No, I don't expect more. I expect the player to play to the level that he's capable of playing at and that he's shown in the past. You stated that Manning was fine last game and now you're calling me clueless.

So, theoretically speaking, say G and Jake we to both go down with an injury, miss a few games in which we win, you wouldnt bring them back into the lineup, because... if its aint broke, dont fix it?

Bingo, MJL, you are right on target. This is Manning's last year here, so I'd like to see him play as much as possible....lol.

Yes, I am a huge fan of his, but I want the team to succeed. I hope Sanheim comes in and lights the world on fire, but the dislike for Manning has always been way over the top on all the social media outlets and forums. All D-men make mistakes every single game, but unfortunately Manning usually makes one major gaffe that looks really bad and sticks out in people's minds. He's a standard #6 D who is good for 15 minutes/game. Believe me, Brandon Manning is not going to be the main reason we win or lose. His corsi has gotten off to a tough start this year, but the past two seasons he has been fine in that area.

the Manning the other night was what he is.....a below average defenceman.....our coaching staff, which in your eyes knows all, continue to use him....for Brandon Manning Tuesday is par for the course. Not sure what you expect from a AHL/NHL tweener defenceman. He was fine....for Brandon Manning.

I guess I didn't do a good job of it but my post was an attempt at sarcasm. In my opinion your premise of blaming Hakstol if they lose because he sat Manning and played Sanheim, is ridiculous. I agree that some are over the top on Manning but he is a part time 6/7 in this league at best, and he should not be a regular in the lineup.

No, because those are two high impact players that should be in the lineup at all times. My point was subbing in Sanheim for Manning is really not going to make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Yes, I think Sanheim has a great skill set, but what are you going to say if he looks terrible the next few games???

I just think Hakstol should settle on three pairs of D and let them grow together. You shouldn't be worried if one or two mistakes are going to put you in the rafters the next game.

I disagree. Manning had a particularly poor game on Tuesday even for his regular standards. His ice time was indicative of that. The coaching staff is not playing Manning tonight.

So the best way for Sanheim's game to grow is for him to sit in the press box for a dozen straight games or so in order for Manning to play consistently?
