That would be the best scenario.

The Habs have a young core of forwards.... it's not all grim... except on defense where they are old, slow and unreliable.

Aside from the Mete-Weber pairing, the rest have struggled constantly.

Drafting a guy like Dahlin would go a long way in helping this team.

- Scabeh

Oh you need a D-man? Have I got a guy for you! Martin Marincin!

So far this season, the Price has been 4 goals.
- Scabeh

He'll straighten that out, he's too good.

I wonder with the way things have started if Thornton is thinking he should’ve went with marleau....

Didn’t the leafs have interest in him too?

- bryant

I think they showed interest, but I like the hustle of the young guys in the lineup.

On that note...think Leafs brass might show interest in Vatanen...should he be avail?

Couple things from last nights game

Mcbackup sucks
Bozak can be so frustrating
Leafs were not great but won, good teams do that

That is all

They're looking terrible.

Really starting to hope this continues all the way to drafting Dahlin.

- Scabeh

Don't worry. Price isn't as bad as he's been to start(ie - an above average goalie). He's going to return to full on Price mode just in time to ensure a ~9th place finish in the conference.

About when in the season will you give up hoping they win games and hope they lose them?
- Aaron_85

Because it's never too early to start looking at SportsClubStats.com:

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html

Leafs have 84.9% chance of making the playoffs.

Habs have 8.1% chance of making the playoffs.

Although 7 games into the season, I suspect these numbers might not be quite baked in just yet.

I guess Leon is the key piece to that offense. Who knew?
- Aaron_85

Well... look at the top 6/9 for them right now... you have McD+RNH... Yamamoto/Khaira I don't know much about...then... Maroon/Lucic/Kassian/Strome/Letestu... it reeks of Chiarelli.

The D is meh and Talbot has to stand on his head.

McD is just that good and Dry Saddle can keep up making them a legit threat no matter which D pairing you put against them.

I've always thought on paper their depth keeps them from being a contender. McJesus can only carry the whole team so far and Talbot was due to regress somewhat.

Good thing we only have 1 back up goalie then, unlike Detroit...

Anaheim will be interesting in terms of trade movement. They have a poop ton of injuries right now. I'm thinking their moves depend on timelines of each injury. If both Vatanen and Lindholm get back in the lineup with Getz and Kesler still out, I think they move a D and vice versa if it happens the other way.

I think he did enough. He wasn't very good but he DID make a bunch of key saves.

Unfortunately I believe that the only player Toronto can afford to move is Blozak and that aint getting you a decent D-man.
Maybe throw in a pick and prospect.

We were all terrified in the 2nd and 3rd, but a 6-3 victory pretty much says it all.

I haven't paid attention to their roster much. I figured Talbot would have to regress as his play last season was just outstanding.

We will see what happens with them. Worst case scenario they end up with another high draft pick to go along with McJesus

Why does everybody care so much about the McOilers?
Different conference and if they do make it to the finals it will be a dream match up against the Leafs.
And no chance they beat the Leafs.

I'm not sure when most of the acquisitions took place but as I mentioned having so many slow/heavy players in the top 9 is soooo Chiarelli and seems like such a drag on the super fast kids that are stuck with them.

I got the same feeling, but he did pull off a few really nice saves.
But you're right that wrap around was horrible.
