Yeah. Music is just about as subjective as you can get. As long as you can still acknowledge a band has had an impact on society or has had a lot of success, etc. - Thecakeisalie
Oh absolutely, said to someone today losing him was like Queen losing Freddie Mercury. He was just that voice and talent, his lyrics etc, he was like the Canadian version of Freddie. The guy was talented.
I'm 42 so grew up more with Glass Tiger and Gowen and Blue Rodeo. My tastes leaned that way just not towards the Hip save for 50 Mission, LOVE that song.

I listened to a lot of Glass Tiger as a kid because my dad liked them. I remember in public school we were doing this class project on surveys and someone had a survey on favorite bands. This was in the early 90's and I was probably in grade 4 or something and I put Glass Tiger. Everyone laughed at me. I've still got a soft spot for them though.

I hear ya, I married a yank and first time I am driving I had the cd in and she is like who the hell is this and why are you listening to them??
They were one of the first bands I really heard and got attached to, and tend to still play them, Frozen Ghost, and Honeymoon Suite too!
I've rotated through a few fave Hip songs over the years. Bobcaygeon and the one below are current faves.
Some specific lyrics are just (frank)ing brilliant.
"A Face so full of meaning, as to almost make it glow".

Oh yeah! It's a good life if you don't weaken. That's a great tune too! I don't know if I've ever considered the Hip my favorite band, but there are probably very few other bands that contain as many songs I really like.

I have to admit I love the new Taylor Swift song, Look What You Made me do, when I am on the treadmill. Hot video also

My wife has been to two Taylor Swift concerts. God bless her heart, she doesn't make me go.
She says it is insane - the audience is so much younger than you would expect. All moms taking their young daughters. She says the screaming is absolutely deafening.
