Unnnngh Lewis late hit gets called for interference with 3 seconds left?!

Habs get a pp to open the 2nd after having a solid 1st period. LA has got to get it together.

Have you thought about a gig in broadcasting? Also the Brown stripping of the C I think had a much bigger impact on the team than most of us realize. Especially with the way it went down. Plus the team was already in the downward spiral of tuning out Sutter.

Welcome Adam. From my perspective I would say that one of the larger challenges is that Sheng did an excellent job of using data to substantiate his points rather than just throwing out generic statements. For instance, you said in your piece that Kopi and Brownie had the best success of their careers together, but they also stunk it up together and Sutter didn't separate them because they were great. Some WOWY charts of their play over the years would be awesome to see if that statement holds water.
It's pretty clear that the Kings are a transition team. The Kings made some poor contract choices with Brown, Gabi, Richards as well as poor short term rental trades Sekera, Lucic (and not so poor for Richards that led to a Cup) that have contributed to a somewhat bare system feeding the team. You could also argue the kings didn't value some of the prospects they had (cough, Jordan Weal, cough).
That being said it took a perfect storm to not make the playoffs last year, Quick missing most of the year, Kopi down year, TT down year, Gabi injured and down year. It wouldn't take much of a reversion to the mean and they are a playoff team, but do they still have it to make noise in the playoffs?
Some things I'd love to see explored, are Folin and Fanti significant upgrades to 5/6D? If we do indeed have the quality D depth what could we reasonably get in trade for a LaDue/Gravel or AMart/Muzz? With Stevens changes are we seeing more quality scoring chances and are we giving up more the other way?

Thank you all for your words of welcome. From all the years I have been buzzing around HB, the one thing I can tell you is that this is more of a community than a readership. That's why I want to be as interactive as possible.

As far as my not being connected to the Kings right now, you're right in a way. However, this is going to grow with time as I dive into everything Kings. I plan on talking to past Kings bloggers to get a sense of what you guys like and I'm obviously going to be watching with you.

I can't sit here and say I grew up a Kings fan because I didn't. With that said I had no preference which team I got because either I would get to help grow a fan base or interact with very knowledgeable fans. Like I said, I'm really happy it's the Kings because I know there is a strong fan base, great content this year and beyond, and the Kings have a strong effect on the NHL on and off the ice.

The key is I'm treating this like a job. I'm going to try and bring you the best content I can provide whether it be interviews from former or current players and management, a game review, or just my own opinion.

There will be growing pains and some of those things will take some time but I don't plan on going anywhere.

As for my grammar/tenses and all that. It's been a major hiccup for me at school as well as here. Again it will get better over time as I'm going to have more time to prepare articles but I apologize in advance if I make a mistake.

Again feel free to give me your thoughts and candor and have fun reading.

I stand by my sentiments of being glad we have someone dedicated to covering our team here. We have some really good commenters on here, I am not one of them, but the good ones are pretty easy to spot

that is about the extent of the salt you will get directed at you from me, I usually reserve my blasts for stupid decisions made by management, the players or coaching staff.

any word on the severity of the cut Carter received last night?

No. Doughty had Forbot just about the entire season last year. Muzzin usually plays with Martinez. Last year he and Martinez played together and with the likes of Ladue, Gravel and other fillers.

NBC Sports has "A team source told Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider that it’s “going to be a little while,” and TSN’s Bob McKenzie Tweeted Thursday morning that Carter was cut by Jeff Petry’s skate and he’s hearing it will be “multiple weeks” before a return is possible."

So there's IR in his future.

On the plus side Shore is pretty decent in the Dots. Figure they will dress Dowd now. Wonder who will get the spot between Toff and Pearson. Shore got alot of it last night it seemed. Id like the Camm, Kempe duo to stay the same since it clicked a bit last night.

I'd like to see Dowd there. He has excellent vision and patience with the puck and get passes threaded through.

So far this year Brown has had a renaissance scoring four goals and seven points in five games. The production he’s had has brought him back up to the top line where he’s playing with his old center, Kopitar, where they both had their best success in their careers.

misleading comment; brown's production has arguably come BECAUSE he's on the first line (and PP1 minutes), not that he generated points on another line and thus, he's been elevated to riding shotgun with kopitar.

but welcome! looking forward to your articles going forward.

Now that Carter is expected to be out long-term, odds are that they're looking for a center. the Kings have an abundance of 3rd-4th line center types, but no one who really fits the bill for a 2C.

Iafallo's emergence and success on the 1st line, along with Brown's resurgence has minimized the immediate need for a top six winger. If their production drops off, then they'd probably look for a top line winger to play with Kopitar. The type of winger they'll look for depends on which player needs replacing.

I dont think neither since theyre both UFA's at season end and would likely price out of the Kings budget. Not even sure a Gabby buyout would really help it much.

Galcheynuk could be a solid risk to take. Can play both C and W. Value is prolly not the greatest but still decent.
