Great article, this guy must be Erni's cousin.

Favorite part:

The fact is Pelech played this rush poorly. Now first let me just acknowledge that both Tavares and Eberle could’ve done better to get back on defense following their missed opportunity on the other end (to put it lightly). Be that as it may, by the time Brown hit the red line he was already past Tavares. Pelech should have - and in fact, appeared to have - seen the unguarded Brown coming in with speed.

Pelech had time to get over to guard Brown as he drove to the net. He failed to do so. That he ended up deflecting the puck into his own net is almost besides the point. His failure to get back is what led him to have to reach for a puck that he could very well have just intercepted had he stayed with Brown.

But lets blame it all on Pelech! If he only had a 100 mph slapshot

Pelech sure has to do a lot of shat to make up for his teammates.

Pelech possession stats are 2nd or 3rd on D and is plus 2, yeah I know stupid stat blah blah blah but if he was such an abortion in his own end he would certainly be minus would he?

This guys a tool!

Love how he's pawning the whole thing off on Pelech. Even when he says something to the effect of "his turnovers haven't led to opponents goals". Hickey's have. JHS has. Why is he not pointing those out? He's got an obvious hard on for Pelech. Like he's th only one making mistakes.

Me neither...more specifically I don't like the 11 forward thing. Especially because the Isles traditionally turn into a chaotic mess whenever they're a forward short due to an in-game injury and have to adjust, even if it's to a fourth-line player. Instead of just double-shifting someone on the fourth line and keeping the rest consistent, the bench just seems to vomit out three random players for 60 seconds at a time and there are your lines for the rest of the game. Tough to build chemistry that way.

I realize that was under Cappy and not Weight, but, well, I guess we'll see how much that changes now.

If they're using that same strategy, is it really that far from Crappy?

Pelech blows. I'm not comparing him to Pulock due to having nothing to compare with but he sucks.

I hope Weight doesn't use that strategy! The idea on D I guess is to protect Pulock's minutes as much as possible. But on F, the only real advantage to having 11 forwards is you get to double-shift your most talented player(s) on a bottom-six line. That advantage goes away if you just roll out all 11 players on random lines.

I don't understand the love affair with this guy? It's like Andrew McDonald all over again.

Eh, I don't see that. I don't think he's great, but I don't see him screwing up all over the ice all game long, either. Heck, most of the time I don't notice him out there at all, which is fine by me.

But, I usually defend the d-men more than most here, and I usually turn out to be wrong, so take my observations for what they're worth.

Speaking of him. Flyers keep starting him over Provorov for some reason.

I agree he's been a bit of a mess but I would not go as far as calling him Andrew MacDonald. He was just on another whole level of awful. I still can't believe the flyers gave him 5 million a year. We as fans understood how awful he was. How an NHL general manager didn't see it is beyond me.

I read that as all three are synonymous with one another. I was getting the popcorn ready to watch another bout.

My bad.
