People, lets not use the same cliches. Get use to the system, this isn't rocket science or inventing something that every player has never done.
What do these players have in common
Moulson, pouliot,Griffith, larsson,Nolan,Tennyson, beaulieu, gorges, antipin, josefson. They wouldn't be on another team in the NHL
What do these guys have in common
Okposo,pominville,ristolainen, bogosian lehner and oreilly
They would not be wanted by any team in NHL with there current salaries.
We have a bad roster

- Buffalo39

Who is at fault for the roster?

Murray for not drafting well/developing current assets?

Botterill for trying to shape it?

Housley for setting the lines?

Murray was a drunk. He ruined the assets we had.. people thought we won the oreilly trade. It isnt about the junk we traded,it was a primadonna who forced Colorados hand and now we are stuck with a bobby holik contract. Oreilly is a third line center on a great team making 4-4.5 million
Okposo is another holik contract, we are stuck for what,5 more years OUCH.
Lehner for a first and we took legwands contract.lehner has no skills as a goalie,he is big and just tries to get in front of the puck.
The mcnabb trade and 2-2nds for deslaurier and fasching, awful.
Picking Reinhardt over draisatl, alone that incomprehensible.besides eichel and that was given to us. There isn't one superstar in the NHL drafted by the sabres, how can that be

Interesting that the Sabres players are talking about the last 10 minutes of the game as an example of how they didn’t quit and played to the end.
Sure.
But a winning culture would be talking about how unacceptable it is to continually come out flat, nearly every game.
It’s called accountability.
Housley is the only be who has the right perspective...”unacceptable how we approached the game.”
They still don’t have the right leadership in the player ranks yet.
39’s opinion, expressed rather harshly, is more correct than not.
Way too many players who have consistently sucked so far.

- IonSabres

Phil shortened the bench for the 3rd, and kane, ror, reinhart, eichel, pommer and risto came through with a decent last 10 minutes to STEAL a point

Honestly this should not be overlooked

Put Antipin in and maybe they can build off of it

they are a 3 game winning streak away from being .500 with that pathetic start, so it could be worse, not much but could be

getting ROR and Reinhart going is a good thing IMO

Murray-yes

Botts- Inherited the garbage deals

Housley- No say in any any of the above and has to make the most of what he was given

I think Antipin, being out and seeing the game from upstairs, will be a difference maker if he can "get it."

I never thought I would be excited to get Bogo back, whenever that is, because Tennyson or Beaulieu need to sit.

That was my point.

We can't put the blame anywhere other than the past.

It's time to look for the positives and move forward.

Agreed. Sorry, but anyone thinking a team that swaps out a GM and a coach had a solid chance at making the playoffs is being positive to a fault.

Would I love the playoffs? Sure. Was it really ever likely? No. Again, I just want to see progression and a team that starts putting it together by about December.

That's realistic.

Makes you wonder where this team would be if they had just listened to Lafontaine when he lost his poop over tanking.

Who knows? That guy gets a pass on this I think unfairly. According to Kevin Snow, Murray was LaFontaine's hire. He actually retold the story of LaFontaine introducing the two in an elevator and Pat being giddy on the half hour hockey show. He was going to mold him and be a sounding board for him.

Then, (apparently) he didn't get his way and took his toys and went home. To the second organization........

Sorry, but I think some of this sits in his lap.

Let's not also forget that Botterill was a finalist back when Murray was hired as well. Not sure the Pegulas just changed their opinion on Botterill in the last 2 years. Especially considering that there were plenty of people that were suprised that Botts hadn't gotten a GM position elsewhere in the meantime.

Nope. No way. He fell off a cliff after 2007. Makes you wonder if that whole scenario messed him up psychologically. Then Pegula giving him the blank check as a makeup call didn't help.

Sadly no we just have to be patient. Which sucks ass.

I said it like this earlier on twitter:

Being a Sabres fan the last several years is like being on an airplane stuck on the tarmac for 12 hours. And now we're being told to just wait it will take off eventually. It was a 2 hour flight or 7 hour drive, but here we are.

I don't think it's about who we would have had, it's more who we wouldn't have had to deal with. We've had so many awful scrubs cycled through in 5 years I could never remember half of them if I tried.
