That's essentially just one issue though. - Lahey
Fair. Doesn't help that they rely on historically streaky goalies, either. |

I heard Vegas wants to get rid of a d-man or two and would probably eat salary to do so - Reveen.
Really though what do they have?
Garrison, HS who if he was making 1-2mil you probably look at him as a #6/7
Engelland, captain going no where.
Schmidt, I have to assume he's their #1 so he's probably going no where
Miller/McNabb, been bottom pairing guys and are still bottom pairing guys. Worth taking if you are looking long-term, but they aren't exactly going into our top 4.
Garrison, Hunt, Reinhart, Merill all seem to be guys that would clear waivers anyway. |

Fair, but they somehow were 11th worse in SA/GP last year. I believe they are 4th this year as well.
Not a good combo when you have those historical streaky goalies.
I don't get how any of those morons received extensions out there. |

Does anyone think PC would trade Benning or Caggiula? Or is that too bold just year 2 into their contract?
It's almost as if we need to package Benning and JP/KY to a team that needs scoring and has decent d. Ideally you try do something that would net you a top 6 RW UFA filler as well |

The only ones I'd be genuinely interested in are Schmidt and Miller and if I recall, he said he wasn't moving them or Theodore.
I'm still far more of the mind to address the forward problem first. If they'll give us Karlsson and Garrison or McNabb for a prospect and 2nd, then sure. If not, I don't think Vegas is the solution.
I'd be pushing for Athanasiou outta Detroit or maybe Rick Nash. Then add a guy like Karlsson in a side deal to improve speed and C depth. |

Athanasiou is an interesting one. I think Detroit is kinda cap struck so it really limits them to picks/prospects.
I'd try for Nash, but that's a lot of cap space to take on right now. Would limit us going forward I'd think |

But it expires at the end of the year. 7.6 is a lot but we have the space. I doubt we'd need to add much more at the deadline if we got what I'm suggesting. Nash is the type of veteran Chiarelli likes (big body, skilled, responsible) and would likely fit well with Nuge or McDavid. Both he and Karlsson can PK so having more options would certainly help in that avenue as well. |

How does that fit if guys start hitting bonuses? That would be my concern. I'm just asking really don't know off the top of my head. |

Garrison strikes me as Fayne 2.0. Doesn't really do anything above average
Sbisa plays a more physical game and can pk so there is that. |

If they would take a contract back and retain half of Sbisa it could be worthwhile. |

The only bonus we'd need to be wary of is Connor's. Barring a ridiculous breakout from Puljujarvi, I don't think anyone else's potential bonuses are all that crazy. None of Nurse, Yamamoto, Caggiula, Benning or Slepyshev will have bonus going much higher than 1mil(if even that). |

Really rather avoid Sbisa as he's more of a possession nightmare than Russell but doesn't defend half as well. Prone to mistakes and really doesn't do anything well enough to justify acquiring him. |

Either looks good to me with the promise of Puljujarvi and Yamamoto on the horizon. |

So the D corps that was completely fine last year and whose oldest member is 31 is a trainwreck all of a sudden? |

Well if the whole corps falls apart because they lose one guy then it's not much of a corps in my opinion. |

The early season struggles of the D arent wholly indicative of their actual abilties. Sure they're a little shallow, but that's a relatively minor issue. Right now, it's a matter of adhering to systems and getting a save from our tenders. It's a team-wide problem; not strictly on the D corps. |

In the case of Hamilton; PC burned his bridges with Boston and it (frank)ed the oilers. Unacceptable imo.
With Hamonic? I don't really know. I don't like giving up draft picks but when it's for a proven top 4 guy on the rh side as we so desperately need and he's locked up for a few more years for cheap you do it. Period.
PC sucks balls and the sooner he's gone the better for this team. |

What can we realistically look to do on the back end if healthy?
Not like there is a lot of space. TM and PC like Gryba as well so it's not even worth suggesting replacing him. - Lahey

Is it worth it asking for Enstrom for Fayne? Somehow make it so WPG retains so that both teams are paying the exact amount for their guy? - Lahey
